Empty Humidor...

Draft laddie question. Have I recently found 1/ 2 box of Havana cigars that must be a good age. Not been stored in a humidor- I assume they are knackard or can they be “rehydrated”?

They may be salvageable, if it's done slowly (Boveda 72% pack in an airtight box). How old are they? Typically 10 years is the limit on cigars before they start to degrade (this includes the two years they're aged before sale; so roughly eight years from purchase). They'll still be smokable, but the flavors will begin to fade or get muddied.

I also enjoy chilli sauce, sour sweets, full flavour beers, liquorish, hot curries and Welsh women
Cheers, I may try your whisky. I too enjoy the others, but never experienced the last one strangely enough; despite a good innings in my youth to play the map conquest game, welsh boundaries were respected.

My brother brought them back from Cuba a good while ago probably 15 years. So probably for the bin. Thanks.

Only way to find out is smoke them. My RH in my house downstairs is about 70% so can leave them in a box for year and still good. But they stay wrapped in the Spanish cedar box.

You can’t rehydrate cigars effectively back to what they were only lessen the damage. Usually if the wrapper is cracked it’s a good sign the stick in bone dry and will taste garbage.

Hmmm...I'd say more than likely. He was for normalizing relations with them in his last term, but dems and some GOP'ers made a big stink about it.
Donald Trumps embargo against Cuba calling it an International sponsor of State terrorism has caused it immense suffering. How the Cubans life would benefit from this being lifted, in the form of Dollars from the tourist trade. Personally I would love to see this lifted, some of the nicest people I have ever met. There is no drugs trade with Cuba, the police there are brutal on this particular crime.
Cohibo Siglos, one of the finest, washed down with some Metusalem Rum, yeah, aint life sweet! Cheers.cohiba.webp

My mate gave me a few cigars , that he'd brought back from Cuba over ten years ago.
A couple of rj and a box of 10 ( i cant remember the name) . I put them in my humidor , and they soon came good .
The one that really sticks in my mind , is a cigar that he was given for free , when he had a meal at a restaurant. It was crispy and dry , and had split at both ends ( it looked like a burst sofa). I thought it was a write off , and I chucked it into a plastic bag , with a sponge that has distilled water on it . It had been in there for about a month , and I thought I'd take a look out of curiosity. I trimmed the burst ends with the cigar cutter , and smoked it( fully expecting to bin it after the first two puffs). All I can say , is that it was the finest cuban cigar , that I've ever smoked in my life . It was absolute perfection. I was gutted that I hadn't sat down with a glass of rum , and done that unknown cigar justice.

Most official cuban cigars are Government regulated, they are over rated & very expensive. Most of the money ends up in the pockets of a corrupt government, be it cigars, lobsters, chocolate, petrol & now water. There are rumours of ministers living on expensive yachts, or on islands off shore. The small tobacco farmer who hasn't got a government contract is rolling his own, on farm usually in the Vinales area. These are the ones the cubans smoke, & some are very very good. Most are grown organically without chemicals, they have a much fuller flavour & a beautiful aroma. The best chocolate in the world is Cuban, it is without doubt the most beautiful thing I have ever tasted. The chocolate farmers get paid a pittance for it by the government, grown in the mountain jungles around Baracoa, it is exported to the Swiss high end chocolate factories but is a pale imitation of the real thing. If you ask around baracoa, you can get the real thing, made with honey coca beans & butter. It tastes like raspberries mint & dark choc. I couldn't stop eating it. God bless the negra mercado.

How old are they? Iv got a box a few years ago and after half a dozen gave up smoking them they were unbelievably harsh. Got the rest sat in the humidor might be time to break them out.

100% real 😂. TBH Iv smoked plenty of Cohiba and I think there overrated but too good to just bin.
Thats actually a pretty accurate evaluation. The nicest Cohiba I tasted was a small pen sized one, they come in small packs of 5 or ten? & the lady who was smoking them gave me a taster, she was nice!

The shorts cigarillo type ones are nice. I can still remember when I bought a behike for an ungodly sum of money and was so disappointed. Give me a Partagas over them any day.

if you'd been given the behike and didn't know it's value would it have tasted different ? i love a behike but pricing has gone silly in my opinion which spoils the experience for me

I dont know if they still make a Behike anymore? I didn't see any when I was there. I think the cigars are smuggled out to the Cuban connection in Florida & sold to the lucrative American market. The biggest surprise I had was when I asked the vendor for her favourite flavour, she handed me a Romeo y Jilietta No 2. Very cheap in a tube, as soon as I smelt it I bought some, unbelievable rich aroma & taste. The ones over here are flavourless in comparison. Ten quid over here. 3 quid over there, dont laugh, she knew something I would never thought possible.santiago.webp

Not really I think there absolutely average tbh. It was the same with the Andalusian bull years ago. All the hype and just meh.

Not gonna happen....

China denies new report linking CCP to four sites in Cuba allegedly used to spy on the US

And these sites have been active for years (if you're ever wondering why the embargo hasn't been lifted), so I wouldn't so quick to blame Trump for the Cuban's suffering. Especially when it was put in place by JFK.
