The 275 Rigby that I am looking after is going to the grand daughter of the gentleman for whom it was built. I have been looking after it till one his family is in a position to have an FAC and take it on.
So I am thinking about its replacement. I like it as a rifle, but its right handed. So am thinking about building a replacement.
I want a left handed bolt. Cartridge - 7x57 of course.
Thinking about the action. I would really like a good controlled round feed, indeed a left handed Mauser 98 would be ideal.
No I am not going to use a Rem 700, Tikka 695, T3, Sako, Ruger etc.
The Mayfair is an obvious choice, but need a mortgage.
It will be a traditional styled rifle with a floor plate magazine etc. I will of course use a cellulose and carbon composite stock.
There are a few US controlled round feed actions, but are they available in the UK / are they any good. The win mod 70 is a bit eeeh. It looks nice but not not so nice in the flesh.
I already have a left handed Heym SR20 - I do like the action but its a push feed. Rigby / Roberts / Procter / David Lloyd did use these actions for LH rifles.
Any thoughts welcome.
