Royal Mail being sold.

I thought Maggie had sold off all the family silver years ago, she must have missed the post then? Perhaps we can now sell off the civil service to an oligarch or two.

I think it already has a Royal Warrant, so unless the King takes it away when the new owners take over (and that seems unlikely) then I don't see why it can't continue to be called Royal Mail
However, you never know what the new owners might want - they might want to call it "Britpost" or something :)

Cheers

The “Rebranding” experts will be forming an overexcited queue and filling in their invoices even as we speak, the team from Jaguar should be available soon !

Here we all are communicating via internet, wailing about a foreign company buying a moribund, loss-making, union-bound British business which nobody needs any more.

I want to know when someone's going to do something to defend the British mail-coach network being outcompeted by Herr Benz's infernal mechanical carriage.

According to the Royal Warrant Holders Association, all warrants granted by Queen Elizabeth II became void upon her death.

Companies will be permitted to keep the royal insignia on their packaging, website and official documents for a further two years. It is not yet clear whether those companies awarded a warrant by the then Prince of Wales will be allowed to use the King's insignia or if they will be reissued.

Don't know specifically about Royal Mail though, maybe Charles has renewed it.

I can’t understand why it’s cheaper for my to send a card from Canada to the U.K. than it is to send a card inside the U.K.,
The Universal Postal Agreement that adjusts costs according to a country's cost of handling overseas mail incoming to it. As, of course, it gets no payment for this. So, as far as i was given to understand, countries that get lots of incoming mail from overseas charge more for their outgoing overseas mail to cover that cost. Folk don't send a lot of mail to Albania so there overseas postal rates to send to us are cheap compared to ours to send to them.

This feels a little like the American guys who bought London Bridge believing they were buying Tower Bridge. I not sure our Czech Mate understands what he is buying.

Interesting comment. It had me googling, and it seems that may be 50 years or so out of date. Countries now receive payment for handling incoming mail too, and increasingly at sensible rates (another unknown benefit of a Trump tantrum).

I'd like to propose Britain is rebranded.
I'm thinking Joke Britain, JB.
And of course the UK can stay. Ununited kingdom. Or maybe DK for Dysfunctional Kingdom.

Not so Royal now may be it should re-brand as SMS (shat mail service )
Do wonder as its no longer a royal service as it once was at its conception! will have the same rights to park without penalty on red route or busstops and yellow lines.🤔
