A truly waterproof shooting mat

AIM but a good budget option would be a Z fold camping mat.

Or a thicker and cheaper Nielsen mechanic’s mat plus separate non folding one; wide one up front, folding one for the leg-end (hyphen must be kept until user scores a ‘possible’ at an impossible distance 😆); both are 1” thick appx and 4’ in length - I cut a bit off the end of my non-folder shown here for another project. You can even peg them down if you wish, or cover over , etc.

I really like my Ain Drag Matt, despite it being bulky and heavier than most. It not only keeps me dry, providing it’s not raining it’s nice and warm to lie on.

The only hard bit is cough up the price, like all this Aim, there priced like Apple Products.

I was gifted one from ex soldier, it self inflates as it rolls out then put the stopper in, take stopper out and roll up after use, comfortable and waterproof so far, could try your nearest army surplus store.

Needs to be green or camo and cost allot of money with a "shooting" related name or you wont hit the intended target.

I've tried self inflating insulated camping bed, but groupings opened up, spent £100 on a range mat and its improved my shooting no end.

I think it depends on whether your buying for yourself or everyone that see's you on the range. ;) :)

Very true 👍

My issue wasn't soaking up from below, but soaking in when the rain came on. As far as I can see, only really the ESE that looks to be made of a material that would be completely waterproof.

I use the ulfhednar mat. Very pleased with it overall. Not sure I would call it 100% waterproof though. But certainly water resistant.

The issue with having something completely waterproof on top is that in the summer it will be a complete sweat box. You could always treat the AIM with Diver Dave’s water repellent for extra protection yet still have a year round appeal. Which come to think of it I’m going to do to mine. @hendrixrifle was out with me last year in a down poor when the Heavens opened, the AIM on this occasion held water but as we were wearing waterproofs it didn’t matter 🤣 it took a while to dry off though.
