Out last night.

Out tonite in search of the mate of the fox I shot last week. Called for 40 mins with the Icotech 500 (for a change) but nada so as it was freezing I turned for home. Walked 20 yards and tried the Axion again and clocked a fox way up the hillside - 400 plus, so on with the Icotech again - definite interest but lost it two gorse hedges away even though scanning all the while - bugger!
Hung on as it had closed a field before I lost it and switched to mouth call, then in desperation handsqueak and blow me it popped out of the thick hedge of my field and came ambling in. Plenty of time to nail it at 70yds - sent the fur flying too!
Farmer delighted to get the pair in advance of lambing.

Sounds like a hefty lad FB.
And the fox 😘

#4 for me.
I just had a look over the bottom field from the kitchen window and a slinky fox was cutting across the turnip field, so the old Foxy Scrabble for cabinet, rifle etc, then the two flights of stairs to the attic window and it appeared on the Muntjac carcass 15 minutes later 💥🦊... I pick it tomorrow... 72 yarder
Turned out to be a tiny little vixen... Borders enjoyed the find...

A few rats for the nephew and myself tonight from the pig units with the air rifles, 113 between us. Farmer is chuffed again, a bit miffed that he missed us.
Standing on the cold concrete floors in welly boots is not so much fun at times, I must look into getting a pair of heated socks, one of the girls that goes beating has a pair and reckons they are better than sliced
Beaten to it by Sd.

Did a bit of gritting from the wheelbarrow this morning, soon as it was enough daylight to chuck it around with a bit of accuracy, only have the one yellow council bin near me, just as I made a start, the fox we normally bump in the dark when trolling the dogs round, kicked off barking, stood in the middle of the first field out the village.

Mine will be mid Feb, hoping to have the new .222 for the opening count.:-|
Ohhhhh! Triple deuce - nice!
Just looked back at pics and videos (obviously only those when I remembered the record button) from last year - first fox on this small farm was on 5th January after the first “help” call (after 12 lambs lost to foxes) from this old boy’s son-in-law who knew I “did a bit of shooting”. Between then and Christmas I shot 27 on his and a neighbour’s ground but there are still 3 there, so tonight ……..
