Out last night.

I'll check Friday.
I sometimes wonder if the laser can be wrong in misty air ??
Theoretically that is possible as light travels slower through water than air, therefore the calculated distance would be longer than the actual distance. Whether that would be enough to cause the Zulus to alter the POA enough for a clean miss I think unlikely.
Much more likely is that you’re not as good a shot as you think you are. 😉

I was out last night, after a warm day it got frosty. I saw one fox disappear over a hill as we drove past in the landrover. So it appears I have a sudden shortage of foxes. No problem I thought, what I need is some new kit to cheer me up. A zulus with the ballistic calculator is what I need on my .222, superlight to carry about and with the calculator point and shoot......then I read Smellys post 🤣

On a clear night it does pretty good.

Nice one Smelly - so forget the last double miss!
Out tonight but apart from badgers and a few rabbits little or nothing about. Then started to think about your misses (not your Mrs!) so took the opportunity to shoot a rabbit at 212 - defo spot on!

Happy days but felt really tired as I had dropped Lady FB at the airport this a.m. at 5:30 so decided to head for home.
Needless to say last field before the Jimny I spotted a fox with the Axion - bugger just sat down at 300 plus so decided to have a go.
At 315 it was a long way out but I have done it a few times before with the Zulus and the Triple Deuce so set up on B&Q’s finest….
Needless to say it decided to start moving so had to wait for my chance, sure enough it paused at 312 and offered a shot - I was quickly on it or so I thought……

Ah well, it was a long way out and a clean miss - next time….

Frustrating one tonight, was asked by a neighbour of a farm I shoot on would I shoot some rabbits for them that are digging under the field shelters for the horses, so I turned up about 7 tonight, went and seen the stable hand to tell her I was there, quick chat and helped get a couple of horses in, I said to her “ if I see any foxes can I shoot them ? “ “ yes was the answer, but I haven’t seen any for a long time “ so I set off after the rabbits. Walked around the back of the stables, looked through the thermal and there’s two foxes sat on the pile of horse sh*t, I ranged it at 117 yards, up on the sticks with the little .17, shot straight in the centre of its bib, it ran as they sometimes do with the .17, made 20 yards and did a forwards roll, nice one, I thought as I scanned around looking for the other one, when I looked back I seen the shot fox flip again and go through a hedge towards a small stream, so I thought I’d better go and get that, well, I spent a good 45 minutes looking for it, I’m certain it’s gone to ground because there’s badger sets all along the embankment but could I hell as like find it, I rang my mate on the neighbouring farm who said he’d send his lad down tomorrow to have a look.
Back to the rabbits and there’s not many, I seen 5 and shot 5, left a gut shot one for fox bait and took the other 4 for someone who asked me for some, they are in lovely condition this time of year. I now need to get my rifle rest back and get a scope put back on the .223 because I don’t mind shooting a few rabbits with that and it’s got a bit more punch when it comes to the foxes, especially over the 100 yard mark IMG_1543.webp

Thats a hell of a way - I never shoot at them unless 99.9 % of a kill - sure stuff still goes wrong but at over 300 - off sticks - not recommended

In my 20's I regularly shot to 300 at night with my 243.
To old now to bother. It would be exceptional for me today to try it at night.
