BBC - will new gun licence fees make Britain safer?

BBC South West covers the fees hike with a focus on firearms licensing in Devon and Cornwall. The Devon and Cornwall Police and Crime Commissioner asserts that the new fees "remain significantly short of covering the actual costs to Devon and Cornwall Police" and BASC challenges this, whilst explaining that unless the money was ring-fenced, chief constables might spend it on something else, and there was "no guarantee" that the extra money would go into firearms licensing. The BBC does not comment on the lack of consultation and transparency around the increased fees and are weak on the fact that the government’s justification is bogus.

I've got a call booked with my mp shortly, have done the survey today.

Moderators on ticket don’t help the police, this month I’ve scrapped one mod, applied for a one for one CF variation, unfortunately an error on their side mentioned I got a variation for a RF 🤔
Phone call and they did another ticket for CF moderator .
I’m now part exchanging another CF mod for a new one so more pointless paperwork for the licensing Authority .
The Home Office are making the system expensive for local police forces by classifying a hearing protection item as a firearm

No way can this make UK residents safer . However it might stop a few gun owners from voting Labour in ever again ! We are regular talking about " will labour manage a full term? "
The hate some of the Labour party as it is today , we should be locking up about half the cabinet .

from what little I can find,

around 40% of all firearms crimes are handguns - which have been banned since, 1997 ? so thats not been effective and restricting legally held firearms would have no determinable benefit and will only punish legally held firearms holders.
around 25% of all firearms crimes are imitation firearms.
Other Firearms includes - pepper spray, CS gas, crossbows and stun guns.

I can't see this as being anything more than a money grab to cover for budgetary mismanagement. We all, as taxpayers, pay for a good police service and all that entails. Why should the cost, of any one part of this service, be passed on to its specific end users?

why wouldnt they make a full term, massive majority, no realistic chance of anyone forcing another vote unless there's some huge vote of no confident that a large number of labour MP's would never vote for. I think its heads down and hope whoever the next lot are do a better job of it.

Because they cannot run a P*** up in a brewery ! Already a new Party called Reform is way ahead . Only reason they got in was The Conservatives had been in too long and voters thought " how bad could it possibly be ?" Well its this bad - look at the news and listen to the pure hate that comes out the mouths of the Labour leadership.
British Governments have gone during there shortened spell in power.

Our guns our licence our fee.
Public safety is the mantra for firearms licencing therefore the public pays. Us paying more wont make anybody more safe, nor will it make the police or the process more efficient. Why is it £400 for a fac and £88 for a passport renewal ? (Dont forget we pay the medical fee too)

Many doctors don't charge at all or ask just for a token amount that gets popped into the tea and biscuits fund . The government will of course then want to tax them on it .
I paid a token sum to the doctor and my daughter paid not a penny
