Aftermarket stock for BRX1 Beretta

Do you have a link , can’t see them online ?
Hi Nugget, yeah, their online store is all guns and less rifles and ancils.
Craig Hartley is the manager of the gunroom, very knowledgeable and helpful from my experience of him over several years. Website is Online Shop — Barbury Shooting They are on 01793 940 420 or 07872 666 154 and would suggest call and speak to him as I think he battles with the overall Barbury management to get them to put way more on the website than they have. No idea why they dont.

Okay so what rounds is everyone running ?

I have tried sako super hammerhead , Winchester 150 and 180

The odd shot I get hole on hole the rest is like 2” group …. 20 rounds of each tested .

Apologies Nugget, have been away for a while.
Federal ammo, 150gr works well as do Sako 123gr. Am experimenting with some home loading but not seeing a massive difference.
I would say I have seen a marked difference in the heat of the barrel affecting round accuracy after about 3-4 rounds in relatively steady succession when on the range. As it isnt designed for repeated rapid firing the chance of needing to plug down more than 5 rounds when stalking is rare I am fairly content. Always welcome other views though.

Hi

Took your advice the 123 are a dream it’s like a whole new beast of a rifle ! Done me well this season I must say . Also had good success with the 165grain .

Stock looks nice .

What has everyone done then what’s the updates ?

I got the duogrip. Annoyingly, it came not polished/finished properly so had to do that myself. I tried a few rounds. Annoyingly, it prefers the 162gr sako powerblade which is like £70 for 20 which is nuts, but seems to be working the best for me.

Hi Nugget,
Not much update on the BRX1 although did some simulated moving boar at a place south of Cirencester which had great results and epic tuition, just in case anyone else is thinking along those lines too.

On ammo chat, and admittedly for the .270 and not the 30-06. Culled 17 Reds over a week at end of January. Some with Hornady non-toxic and half with Winchester Exteme point non-toxic.
We had to shoot everything with non-lead this year and I thought you may be interested in the non-lead observations:

Ammo summary.
Hornady with its very small orange plastic tip is accurate but no punch. Tunnels (or more accurately lasers) through whatever it hits. Not one for me to use again. Shot ten beasts with this ammo so good observations on it but exit woumds almost no larger than entry wounds. I fear if it is put even slightly in the wrong place the lack of punch would mean a long running beast and painful drawn out end.

Winchester extreme point has much larger plastic tip and delivers much more energy to the beast from what we saw on the effects of each shot. Also more of a ‘punch’ sound on contact although no where near as much as with lead rounds which give that reassuring slap on contact. Shot 7 with this round.

Nothing beats lead and where I can I will continue to use it.

Has anyone here got comparable info on 30-06 rounds please?
