For Sale: Still spirits Air still

I’ve got one, great bit of kit, you can buy the essence to add to the alcohol to make it taste like what you can buy or you can make your own flavourings like rhubarb and ginger gin, or whatever flavouring you want. We had friends over having made different gins whisky, rum with the still and essence and did a taste test comparing the real stuff with our home brew. The only one that some people guessed was home brew was the rum and that was because we didn’t add enough of the sugar syrup to get the consistency right. You do have to remember to water it down or it can be lethal 🤪. The first 50 ml distilled is unusable to drink that is but makes great cleaning product like isopropyl. As for the legality , you are allowed to distil a certain amount per year and can be added to petrol cars, don’t know that I would try that though. Enjoy.
Spot on!

As far as I am aware, in the UK it is illegal to distill alcohol unless you have a distillers licence from HMRC, even if you're only producing a small quantity for home consumption.

(Unless there's been a recent change in the law that I'm unaware of? Happy to be corrected if anyone can find a link to the relevant legislation).

Oh dear maybe it was water for the window wiper bottle I was distilling , I’m sure the blurb on the website we bought from said you could do a small amounts for petrol car , not selling it only for personal use so who’s going to be checking , think I’ll take my chances , crack on life’s too short enjoy.

I did read somewhere that you could legally produce 1500 litres a year of alcohol to run your car on (not verified and can’t remember the source), so if that s the case, ……all my cars run on gin your worship….and I syphon from the demijohn into the tank and naturally have to suck on the tube to initiate the vacuum effect…

A personal alcohol licence costs £37 plus £10 admin fee, if you really want to be within the law. Just wondering how many people actually go through the process. Would that cover your production if not selling

If whoever buys it could turn the 100l or so of random wine / cider that I’m not happy with and stashed for such an occasion, into “product” I’d be delighted!!
This little thing does 100 litres of rose water on each run I smell like a pox doctors Clark after using It (hic) 4ft reflux head

The Revenue won’t give a licence under 1800 litres output- way beyond hobbyist distillers.

Usually best left to the experts, as Jim may possibly confirm...

My ‘home decoration’ is equally inspiring re the AOC; no microwave nor artificial flavourings involved, and best of all, 100% legit, even if 40,5% of it remaining is Speyside water…

This being said, I’d have taken it off you for making gorse blossom oil, etc, had I been closer, so have a well deserved bump on me 👍🏻

You can legally produce up to 2500 litres of biofuel, tax, and license free. The distillation of alcohol for consumption is strictly illegal without a distillers license.

The 'wink-wink, nudge-nudge' approach will see FAC, bank balance, and personal liberty restricted in short order if caught.
