Buffalo river gun cabinet favour

One of the locks has jammed on my ammunition cabinet, it’s a buffalo 8 gun and I believe it’s the ‘bronze’ model.

Could someone please do me a favour, if they have one of these cabinets could the post a photo of the lock fixings?

I’m thinking, if bolted on I’ll cut a panel out of the side of the cabinet, and unbolt the lock. I can then access my ammunition, repair or replace the lock and get the hole welded over with some new plate.

My bratton sound safe jams on one lock. I turn the key and holding pressure on hit the door with the palm of the other hand.
The jolt frees the lock off.
Might be worth a try

Try something like a hammer drill hitting a piece of wood near the lock while keeping pressure on the key. Squirt a bit of lube in first
have tried lube.

The issue with the lock is, I think there’s a bit of key in it.

Got keys the wrong way around, bottom key stuck, removed with a little leverage but som of the key shaved off…..

Have tried banging, lube, blowing with compressed air, all to no avail.

Oh, that horrible feeling when "just a little more gentle pressure..." turns into "oh b*gger".
Sorry, I have no useful advice or information, only sympathy.

Try giving it a good run over the lock with a decent magnet
If a bit of key is jammed in there you might be able to wiggle enough stuff about to move it

(Works best then the key is non magnetic brass but the lock plates are steel but it is worth a try

Has a bit of the key come off in the lock and jammed it? Or has the key broken and you dont have a spare?
Or both

I had this problem with a combination-locked safe last year. No locksmiths were interested. I got my farmer friend in on the act, and we eventually got through the side of the safe and opened it.
not something I would want to do again!

It's the vibration from the hammer drill which may help the levers move.

Get a good locksmith in - they are used to dealing with such issues.
So, he came this evening, seems the wrong key had turned once (normally turn twice to unlock) then wouldn’t turn back.

Locksmith took a little bit off of the same strip shown above and ‘eased’ the key in, lock came undone 🙂.

All functioning normally now, must concentrate in future!
