As I said in a earlier post the rumours still going after 31 years ( I checked my diary) of Sika in East Lothian on the Lothian edge towards Dunbar.
More chance of shooting the Haddington Panther,but that's another story.

I think the various contributions to this thread strongly suggest they were there, if not in great numbers, but are gone now.

I would also suggest that some of the recent Sika sightings may well be the Tyningham fallow - certainly a dark fallow can be mistaken for sika, especially to those who are not particularly familiar or seeing them at a distance or a quick glimpse.

Just spent the day driving down tje M6. The verges are pretty wooded and make a wonderful corridor for deer to move along. Saw red deer on the side pf the M6 Toll happily grazing. Railway lines also act as excellent corridors.

I know someone who shoots the ground behind the whiskey bonds up there. Haven’t spoke too him for a couole of years but definitely back then there was never any sika shot up there or any seen either

Certainly I think the sika recorded on the BDS map around Tyningham are fallow. But the older reports from Dunbar common and Moneynutt seem pretty well supported, even if they’re not there now.
 
Strange as I had the Stalking in Crystal Rigg forestry and permission for vermin control on Dunbar Common, also we had the sporting rights from Lord Binning on Dunbar Common and Johnscleugh for the Grouse shooting from 1999 to 2010.

And how many Sika did you see ?

Cause I shoot there now and there’s definitely none

I work not a million miles from wanlockhead and haven't seen any here. They get them the other side of the m74 but not with us strangely

The core population in the upper Tweed Valley is well established and well mapped.

It’s the expanding (or contracting) edge that’s much more poorly known.

I used to see 5 or 6 regulalry most mornings as u drove up the apr on the same restock site on west side of 74.
Dunno how long ago that will be now. But it was when they were building the windmills and it was just before u got to the site offices and the double entrances just before little clyde fly over.
But there doesnae seem to be big numbers over the west side and never heard off them moving very far south down that side
