Sika deer in East Lothian and lower Tweed

I used to see 5 or 6 regulalry most mornings as u drove up the apr on the same restock site on west side of 74.
Dunno how long ago that will be now. But it was when they were building the windmills and it was just before u got to the site offices and the double entrances just before little clyde fly over.
But there doesnae seem to be big numbers over the west side and never heard off them moving very far south down that side
Seems like from the M74 to Thornhill is a spot without them

Plenty still round dawyck.
I work not a million miles from wanlockhead and haven't seen any here. They get them the other side of the m74 but not with us strangely
Refer you to my post 60 and Wanlock head. That's when Derrick was keeper there before he went to Bowhill 20 or so years ago. Proves Sika were out with the Galloway Reds then.

cant believe the people on this site sika stag was shot at aitkengall seen it and also had it to eat. 2005 just no telling some people. some folk would not no a sika if it bit them on the arse.

Hear about the the other side of Thornhill but haven't seen any about here. Doesn't mean you haven't shot one 20 years ago. I know a place in Wales where I have a photo of a roe that no one had ever seen deer.

I know the Bowhill keeper now

Lovey guy . Never sees Sika either 😂
Derrick Goodwin went there to improve the grouse, never heard how it did. There are definitely Sika close to there, you could almost spit from Dawyck over St Mary's loch and they were as far as Phillipshaugh and Ettrick bridge 20 years ago. They went up the Manor valley and down to Innerleithen years ago.

Well I live at daer and we don't have them here.

I used to see them just over the hill from u then on ur side of the 74.
Definatrly sika and that was when they built those windmills.
Used to see them quite regular in mornings when i ws driving up to abington on the apr
Dunno how long that will be now 10 or 15yr??

Do the fallow come as far over as that?
Wont be that far away as crow flies.

Yes, definitely in Deepsyke. Portmore Fallow have been known to range over to Penicuik but never heard of Sika there. That's not to say it's impossible mind!
In deepsyke I had that a few years ago never seen a sika in their
But then their not that far away 🤔

No one has said otherwise. What some people? I think it’s just the guy that had the stalking there saying he’s never seen one there. And me saying there’s none there now.

If you say you were there when it was shot there then so be it.
As long as you’d know it if it bit you’re arse that is. 😂

red was shot at abington crawfordjohn 35 years ago had the shooting from fountain forestry
I was told years ago by an FLS ranger that that River Clyde underpass under the M74 by Elvanfoot seems to be where the odd red sneaks east and sika likewise west
