I suspect you see where this is going? 😂

I have 470 litre Halfords Exodus car roof box to collect in the Amesbury area, I know, I know, you are not about to tell me anything that my wife already has not!😂

Oh, and I need it here in two weeks.

Now Amesbury is a long way from Sheffield, in one long journey that is, bit in a few shorter ones... 💡

When I looks around the membership of this fine forum I suspect, in fact I know, this group of fine individuals would relish the chance to rise to such a challenge, well here it is.

People, friends, citizens, we have around 200 miles to cover but two weeks to do it.

As I said to the gent that I/we are collecting from earlier today regarding roof bars fitment etc, 'if it won't go on it, it might go in it!' 😂

Also, incentives could well be on offer ;)🔪

Over to you! 🫡

I also suspect if there is a laugh to be had on a Friday night around here you might find it in this thread 😂

I’m keeping my fingers crossed for you - there must be enough members doing mileage for work or even socially that could move this up the country for you.

On another forum I am on, the Discovery 4 one, they even have a section for the members’ courier service where parts & other items are moved about by members for members.

Amesbury to Sheffield is bugger all distance. It’s about 200 miles, A303, onto A34 up onto the M40 then A43 onto the M1. Takes about 3 hours. Easy enough there and back in the day on less than a tank of fuel.

But then living in Scotland we are used to driving long distances, especially if we ever want to see English based friends and family. In England people think the next county is a long way away.

Indeed - my next county is 800m away and I will need to plan like I’m going to Mt Everest if I am to travel that far!😉

I might add, as some may not know, that the poster is a well known maker of quality stalking knives………

I remember at the peage on the A1 going to Paris watching a car some seventy yards and two or three lanes across with two bicycles on a roof rack fitted go through the car lane. Yes..the one with the low hanging bar to stop trucks and buses using it. I'll leave you to guess the rest. So bear that in mind coming home with any car parks.

February 14th 2015 I was in the M40 northbound when, long story short there was a multiple pile up. The first bloke who hit me from the rear had a Tupperware roof box like that. It was full of his kitchen contents including plates, tea pots and pickled tomatoes etc. upon impact this box of shrapnel turned into an unguided missile and upon striking my hatchback the crockery exited the flimsy plastic container, smashed the rear window, disintegrated into millions of razor sharp projectiles and left my friend and I with many cuts.

My message is, don’t load it up with heavy frangible objects. Yes it for sleeping bags, pillows and cushions.

if you post the length/width/height that will help. i travel to tidworth every other week and live in the chilton area of oxford. size dependent i may be able to get it that far for you ?

Pallet line would probably ship for £75 ans have it with you in a few days

Put on a pallet stood up with a simple protective frame around it and wrapped - easy

Is the collection point a private address or a shop with conventional opening hours?

I may have an idea.

Used a service called Shiply in the past. Basically you put what you want moving, from where to where etc & then shippers bid for the work. If you’re not in an absolute rush for it & are happy to wait a few days until it can be put into a schedule of other deliveries then the prices tend to be pretty competitive. Obviously check the t&c & what insurance & delivery guarantees are provided but might be worth a punt?

If I wasn't in the good old Merica at the moment I could have taken it from Amesbury to Swindon, I am only 15 mins from Amesbury.

If it can wait a few weeks then I am happy to do that.
