Home Brewing

It's only had a week of bottle conditioning and its ready to go.

No oxidation either, so the rest of the batch is chilling right down now.

Looks great.

Got a couple of simple pale ales just settling ready to barrel and keg, bittered with huel Mellon and dry hopped with citra that are shaping up well.

The barrel is for the stalking group leader’s birthday bash. I’m sure it will be well received!

Enjoy

My latest batch is just finishing primary fermentation (part 2, as it had spray malt added after 5 days) but will do a cold crash before bottling this time.
Normally I don’t bother but I do end up with a fair amount of yeast lees cropping out in the bottles after secondary fermentation, so hoping that a cold crash will cause more flocculation to occur and the end result is a less yeasty (and farty) beer!
All being well it will be ready for the end of the month just in time for the bi-monthly monsoon!!

What is it you're brewing?

I will be heading that way soon.
A very kind member on here has a biab unit I am going to buy so I will be doing some grain brewing soon enough!!

My first brews will be the Leffe blonde and the old peculiar clones available from the malt miller as they are my two fave ales!

Solid choices. I quite enjoy the process, which isn't a surpise as I like cooking.

Put some music it, crank up the the burner and hide in the garage for a few hours.

A TT Landlord clone might be next for me.

Did I send you the recipe for that? I've been trying with brewing exactly that again next or maybe a Proper Job

You did indeed. I might make a substitute though as TT's use Golden Promise in Landlord.

Proper job is good, steady brew. That, Landlord & Ghostship are English pales I'll always drink.

Same - I am the chef of the house and like to cook with the music on, only problem is that I am a metal head, so the kitchen is a noisy place when I am doing my ‘thing’!!

I would also like to get recipes for beers like chimay, la goudale, sneck lifter, directors, fransiskaner or maisells weisse and stuff like that.
I have a broad beer taste!!

All great choices. Proper job the choice for me, although recently I brewed a fursty ferret which I’ve enjoyed

I'm rather envious of some of you guys and the great looking (And no doubt fabulous tasting) beers you guys produce and talk about on this thread! Unfortunately I don't have the facilities to do my brews from scratch (So to speak) so I will continue settling for the kit brews that I am turning out - And really enjoying.
I will be bottling 10 gallons over the week-end - 5 gallons of my regular "Geordie Winter Warmer" which I dry hopped and a sample of it tastes great @ 4.8% ABV - a real improvement on the "untouched" recipe and then bottling a 5 gallon batch of IPA which has ended up at around 6.5% ABV.
I am finding it very interesting reading all of your posts and seeing the photos of the great looking beers that you are turning out I am learning a lot from the replies to the questions that I put up so many thanks to all of you for your help and advice! :tiphat:
EDIT: Just as a foot note I managed to get a job lot of swing top bottles at a very reasonable price (complete with crates for easier storage) and unless it's my imagination I feel that the beer conditions better in glass rather than PET bottles!

Making a German Helles today that I'm hoping to enter in a local competition, plus I wanted something nice to enjoy in the lovely weather we've been having!
Aiming for a 21L batch at 5.6% using German Pilsner malt and light munich malt

Good evening guys. I am hoping that you might be able to "advice" me once again.
I wanted to try something a little different for my next "brew" so I opted for a Hambleton Bard Master "American Wheat Beer" kit. I have never tasted let alone tried brewing a Wheat Beer before so I don't know quite what to expect. All the description says is "A light refreshing wheat beer with good head retention and distinct flavours."
One thing that I have noticed is that it has started to ferment within around 90 minutes of mixing, which is a lot quicker than any of the other kits I have brewed. I used the packet of Yeast that came with the kit so I am wondering if it is normal for a kit beer to start fermenting so quickly - It is sitting behind my arm chair at a temperature of around 23 degrees C and bubbling away quite vigorously through the air lock.
Would any of you like to offer any thoughts on this and of course what sort of beer I could expect as the finished product please?

I really need to start homebrew again, been about 5 years. Some tw@t got me 3 bottles of buckfast for a laugh for my birthday, believe it's called known old times sake!! Me & Mrs have "enjoy" a bottle tonight, FFS, I'm sweating!! No allowed to say bouncy bouncy in this house! Haha have few hundred lambs to be vaccination in morning too!!
