The Zulus in the sun ....

Is awful! I don't like using it in the sun so I drilled a 7mm hole in the lense cover.
Hmmm slightly better but not enough better so today I went to work to use the mill and lathe to make a plast button only this time it has a 5mm hole!
Hopefully that will improve things but every summer I long for glass and a decent add on over digital in bright sun....

Have you tried a vulpine mk3?

As long as your scope has parallax down to 15m, close targets are no problem.
I use mine on a z6i, and it oy has parallax down to 50m, so anything closer than 100m ish, I can't get a crisp image, still clear enough to identify and shoot though. Anything beyond 100m it's no problem.

Hello, It is quite common when using night vision in the day to get any clarity in bright sunshine, even a day/night scope , The old Photons were only good with a pre drilled hole in the cap to get a decent screen view, Although they were sold as a night scope i used mine in the day but not in bright sunshine just cloudy and dusk , A day scope with a good sunshade and N/V add on sorts this out

Hmmm.
I really don’t get this Smelly. My Zulus is absolutely fine in all light conditions from full sunshine through to the gloaming whether the setting is on natural or enhanced. A few examples..
Full sunshine.

Early morning - sun behind the leveret.

Early pm on a dull day.

Early morning - full sunshine sun behind me,

As a suggestion - are the brightness contrast/settings correct?

Not sure on your last question. I'll have a look later.
I seem to struggle to get a sharp focus in bright sun.
You see in this video at the end, it seems to go blurred...

Not sure what the blur is - I didn’t really see it but at 200 yards you would have been on a highish zoom so maybe pixelation rather than blurring?
I am sure you know all this so this might be granny sucking eggs but just in case….. in the main menu there is a natural colour or boost choice, on really bright days the boost selection can be a bit colour rich but I still find it very sharp - what is your’s set at? Maybe try changing it on sunny days (though I don’t).

Also in normal shooting mode, a quick press of the rhs button takes you into brightness settings where each quick press gives 5 or 6 brightness levels - I find the lower ones give poor clarity especially on dull days so mine is pretty much permanently set on the top one (5 or 6).
I too have the “toob” extension fitted though to be honest that is more for aesthetics than any advantage, I also have the small hole one but have never needed to use it - ever!
Hope this helps.

Is the lens threaded SD? if so get an ND filter, for the corresponding thread size, from a camera accessory shop. If not, get a Vulpine, simplicity at its best! Point focus shoot, no more button twiddling.
