Help required

Can anyone point me in the direction of what may be happening here , 50% of my primers are giving me bother , don’t know if I have soft primers or my firing pin is the issue ,part of my primer is going into bolt resulting on misfire , have to dismantle bolt and clear out debris

Try a different make/batch of primers initially to eliminate that, or not. Then a different make of ammo, or if you reload, try some factory rounds to eliminate that. If those don't solve the problem, then it's the bolt or firing pin. Looking at that picture, you're certainly getting a helluva strike on the primer. Is your chamber nice and clean?

You've probably thought of all that, but that's all that springs into my mind.

How many times has the case been reloaded?

has done the same with new lapua cases , but I will try changing primers first , ones I have at the moment are cci450 but I have the br4

Doesn't appear to have etched the bolt face too much, but if CCI 450 are popping frequently, I'd check my reloading powder scales, neck tension, and my firing pin protrusion......

And have a look at the firing pin tip with a magnifying glass. They can pop a primer if the tip is chipped leaving a sharp edge.

I've used 450's for some very fast loads and never had a problem.

that case has a swipe around the head so may well be over pressure loading .

I’ve loaded same recipe for a few years now without any bother , but cases are old and I tried new replacement lapua cases which I had ready to go but had the same bother with those primers , I’m hoping it’s the primers

I had this problem with .223 and it was the ammo loaded too hot. What is the load?
check the firing pin for damage and smoothen off gently if there is a rough edge.

Hot load possibly, I mat have read your posts incorrectly, did you develop the load in different make of brass then switch to lapua? Case volume could be different which is causing excess pressure

I’ve had the same load for a few years now without any bother lapua cases , cci450 primers , rl15 powder

It won’t help, cci 450 are among the toughest SR primers.

Unless somehow you’ve ended up with cci400 in the packet. I’d try a new batch of 450s first.

If you get the same with those Something else is amiss.

Load has been the same for a few years , checked my scales which are fine , and have loaded up 5 bullets with same powder etc and different primers to see if this helps

38.2gr of rl15 with cci magnum 450 primers , elf-x heads … scales have been checked and are ok….will try the cci br4 primers to see if that make a difference

I'd put more powder in. It's not getting to peak quick enough.
