IBC’s filled today ( solulyte added ) both water systems tested, pellet ordered and quad dropped back off, I’m getting there
When are they coming Stav
We have just swapped over to wheat now - really well on
Had very very few issues - least ever actually - but last 3/4 days the Gos has found them and is killing nearly full grown birds

I spoke to him yesterday and he said the 10th of August, which suits me because all the crops should be off and I don’t like shooting pheasants in October so we’ll start in November

Few more jobs rattled off, shelters up in the big pen to give them some good dusting areas, sprayed off around the back of my smaller pen so I can get at the elec fence, went to get a battery for the fence unit and they were 30 quid, sod that, so I’ve found one that runs off a car battery for £42 so I’ve ordered that, off now to see how my mate is getting on cutting rape, hopefully I don’t have to crack the whip because I want to be on there for 8pm sharp

Not just me then ...something wrong with site ?Don’t know why all my pictures are on the wonk
It's something to do with uploading them from a phone. I never quite figured out why but sometimes it does, sometimes it doesn't!! I did find a workaround a while ago but not had to do it for a while. I recall if you edit the pic before uploading (but don't need to actually change anything, just re-save it on your phone) then they upload the right way. Or something like that - I'm not very techie, sorry!

I think it comes and goes! It’s a while since it happened to me but I remember it being a pain. Maybe @csl can shed some light?

Pellet arrived today, although not all of it pens are finished, both elec fences done and they are dropping the last field of barley, just a hundred acre of oats to come off but the far side of the shoot so I’m not worried about that, I’ve got a couple of shelters to go up probably next week and that’s me about done
I sound like I’m moaning all the time but I really think this is my last year doing this, it’s taking up too much of my life and I can’t get any of the so called syndicate to do anything

I know exactly what you mean , it takes up far too much time when you could be shooting elsewhere compounded by the fact that its a bit of a travel for you plus lazy syndicate members would do my head in.Pellet arrived today, although not all of it

You will miss it if you pack it in. Has a work party this morning only 3 of us turned up but a lot are at game fair. If I am honest if there was a load of them there watching us 3 work this morning it would of probably wound me up

I dont think he will , I never missed my shoot when I packed it in , in fact my shooting life is much better having no ties feeding birds etc

It’s just become a big headache, the main problem is a lot of people have come and gone and with a lot of the members now they bring no skills needed so I’m left with a load of office staff, the only reason I’m still in it now is because I have the run of the place and I’ve got a lot of time for the old girl that owns the place. I was talking to the shoot captain the other day and was telling him I’d had enough, he said if I rapped in he would also rap in and the shoot would be no longer because the owner wouldn’t let them carry on without me or him, the other thing is that when the old girl passes away the farm will be sold so that will be it for the shoot, even though she’s in her 80’s she could have another 20 years in her, she was in the tractor yesterday running barley off the fields

It’s only your decision that matters, doing it to please others will just make it a resented chore. I for one hope you don’t as the information and experience you and the other contributors has been massively helpful to myself and I imagine others too.
In my own endeavours, I’m on pen 4 out of 5 currently smashing my way through some Shropshire rock for corners and strainers.
It’s rewarding work especially on the waist line! Had to send the wife out for new shorts last week as they were falling off and even with my belt on I couldn’t get it tight enough.
I’m now a medium in the bottom halves! Never thought that would happen, think I was born xl!
Lost 12kg so far
