Buying and selling during FAC/SGC renewal ?

Whats peoples experience of buying and selling shotguns and rifles during the certificate renewal process?
Given that there is generally a period of a few months between submission and the licence expiry and that we are advised to keep hold of the unexpired certificates as they are still valid then buying and selling of guns is possible(?)
However having filled in all the owned gun details on the renewal "forms" be it paper or electronic there will be a difference if one is to buy/sell during this period.

Who has done this during the process and has it caused any issues?

It asked me on my renewal a question: Are you intending to buy/sell any firearms? Or something similar, so it seems like it can be done... but I'm not one to make life unduly difficult.

The certificate system is paper-based. You can continue as usual during this time. Any transactions are notified to the police at that time and the police are supposed to update their records at once.
If there is any confusiom arising from doing that, it is owing to a police system failure not the holder doing anything wrong. The proper thing to do then woukd be escalate it to PCC because it would be a failure of the licensing system - which is a serious risk to public safety, according to the prevailing orthodoxy.

I've had to put in for a variation (s11 bs needs to be done but end of July) and advised to get renewal in as my FAC runs out in December.

If all goes to plan I'll have dozens of extra firearms on my FAC than I told them about when I submitted my renewal. As it was there wasn't enough space on the online form for them all.

I sold a rifle and shotgun during my renewal while on a two month extension, just informed them of the sales via email and tickets came back renewed and updated
