No the rules of competition stipulate the type of ammunition. I believe it is being reviewed. And there's proof that Steel is crap if elite athletes won't use it it's not good enough for me to attempt to humainly kill a bird at a reasonable distance.
But shouldn’t he if he has all this overwhelming evidence?About as long as it takes you to repeat and repeat and repeat and repeat the same old question. You haven't figured out yet that he isn't going to answer you.![]()
I am sure you could muster a PM - and maybe we can chat about it.Despite me being a bit rough around the edges it is best I don't answer that on here via email/pm or the phone or anything that might require the few remaining codebreakers from hut 6 at Bletchley Park![]()
Historic firearms of all sorts are being used with steel shot for hunting and target shooting in USA and Denmark. Bill has been writing about the use of steel shot in various historic firearms with no damage reported. The various scaremongering about steel shot will run its course in the lead up to 2029 and beyond.Bill is a comparatively wealthy bloke with an extensive collection of guns, if he chooses to bugger one up through bad ammunition choices I dare say he could shove it in Holts and take whatever profit or loss and dump the problem on someone else!
Quite likely they will add further bans and restrictions, given behaviour of the few.
There is a prohibition on driving under the influence of alcohol. My father complained continually about it. In the 1950’s he would happily drive to play Rugby, have 8 pints and then drive home. That’s what everyone did. Late 80’s and 90’s many still did.
Nowadays if you get caught drink driving you treated as a fool, and no one has any sympathy. But plenty still do drink and drive.
Alcohol causes huge problems, and a significant percentage of hospital time is due to alcohol related issues. I don’t have the figures to hand. I suppose at least the alcohol duties at least go someway in covering the costs of treating all the drunken accidents and liver failures etc caused by over indulgence of alcohol.

I don't see that day to day in communication with members on myriad issues and as for lead ammunition there have not been many queries whether to me, or my colleagues and that is also the case at shows and events. I appreciate there are a few forum members with strong views on moving away from lead ammunition and whilst they are entitled to their views they are not mainstream views, albeit the sheer volume of their comments may make it appear otherwise. What is the BASC virtue signalling you find sickening?A lot of us are in the same situation @Conor O'Gorman . BASC is totally out of touch with the common shooter / deerstalker. I have BASC membership but wouldn't choose it if I had an option. BASC's virtue signalling is sickening.
That rather misses the point. Its all very well for those repleat with funds to risk turning their guns into decorators but for the rest of us its a chance that you dare not take.Historic firearms of all sorts are being used with steel shot for hunting and target shooting in USA and Denmark. Nope.I am sure you could muster a PM - and maybe we can chat about it.
Nailed it. Exactly that. Opinion. Not fact. Simmer downI will be using the 40gn vmax bullets on the range into a sand trap that catches the lead. I have no intention of shooting live quarry with those bullets. That’s why I have asked them to order 40 gn non toxic Fox bullets.
How you getting on with putting together all the evidence that lead causes no harm, and refutes all the opinion paper by the HSE?
Let's come back to that point in 2029.That rather misses the point. Its all very well for those repleat with funds to risk turning their guns into decorators but for the rest of us its a chance that you dare not take.
I don't think so, I'm hoping that Hortonium or something similar arrives by then, I'd no more buy steel cartridges than I would I an EVLet's come back to that point in 2029.
Given here, other shooting forums, Facebook forums and just about every other person I speak to on all things shooting, I'd agree fully with @takbok and say you're out of touch. We're not just talking about a few people, we're talking hundreds and thousands of people. It's also probably worth noting he does use lead free so he's not one of these 'select few' causing issues.I don't see that day to day in communication with members on myriad issues and as for lead ammunition there have not been many queries whether to me, or my colleagues and that is also the case at shows and events. Not sure how you went from a few people moaning about BASC on forums to "hundreds and thousands of people". That is certainly not my experience and feedback from members that goes back 23 years. That is not the experience of my colleagues either. This forum has over 30,000 members and less than a dozen people with axes to grind about BASC. That's a fact. This is what BASC is about:Given here, other shooting forums, Facebook forums and just about every other person I speak to on all things shooting, I'd agree fully with @takbok and say you're out of touch. Walk in to any RFD and ask them about lead free ammunition and how effective it is. I don't think there will be many that want rhat change either.
Fair enough, its your choice.I don't think so, I'm hoping that Hortonium or something similar arrives by then, I'd no more buy steel cartridges than I would I an EV

BASC staff and volunteers are engaged with members and the shooting community across all shooting disciplines daily and the picture you paint is simply not true. Perhaps the problem is your fixation on BASC? Worth reflecting on and perhaps time to drop the axe and get behind BASC.Across the various shooting forums, Facebook, friends and friends of through random group chats? I think you'll find the issue is far bigger than a few on here that actually voice their opinion on it. Just because you aren't aware of it, doesn't mean the problem doesn't exist.
No, I'm not sure if you've realised but people tend to be two faced and don't often air their concerns as most people don't like confrontation. I on the other hand, enjoy confrontation. I am certainly not "fixated" on BASC, the only reason i comment is to bite back at Heym and yourself whenever you post crap. Which unfortunately for you pair (more so Heym) is quite common.BASC staff and volunteers are engaged with members and the shooting community across all shooting disciplines daily and the picture you paint is simply not true.
