That’s the stuff to use, key clamp jointsThe hoist is free to rotate in the two clamps on the side. The top clamp allows the vertical bar to pass through and rotate freely. The bottom clamp has a ridge or flange at the bottom that stops the bar from dropping through to the ground. This clamp has a hex grub screw (the system is key clamp I believe) that I welded an old Allen key to so I can lock it in position while gralloching then loosen it and swing the hoist around.
Best part was it was all less than £20 secondhand from someone who bought a house that had this down the front path for a previous elderly owner. There was probably enough pipework and clamps to make two joists.
You can buy all the fittings new and if you get them to fit old scaffold tubes then you can make more of a saving.

If the op uses 2 x 27mm fittings and 3 bits of 27mm tube he can make a little frame that can attach ( resting down) onto the roof rack. Position off the side or straight off the back of the vehicle
Nice link there sir. That’s what I used to rig out my walk in chiller with hanging rails and an electric winch for under £50 and I only needed to get my angle grinder and drill out to do it all in a quick Saturday morning job.
