Stay safe out there chaps!

I gave myself a sore one with a pair of hoof shears a couple of years ago. Like an idiot, I patched myself up and carried on. I should really have gone to A&E as I'm still suffering nerve pain. Think I did some real damage at the time. You know how it can be though sometimes. You're under pressure to finish a job as there's nobody else to do it, and self-care kind of takes a back seat 😕

This taught me a lesson though

There's a chap with a hand just like that at post #135
😁

This is what happens when you put your hand through a poultry skinning machine.
They work on humans too,I wouldn't advise it unless you like bones ,ambulances and operating theaters 😷

Top tip: don't slip with the hatchet whilst cutting kindling the same day you've had an anticoagulant shot.

Don't ask me how I know....... 🙈
Or walk in to hotel open bathroom door getting up in dark for a pee. Had to explain to reception I hadn’t committed murder and apologised for the red sheets as my forehead wound dripped onto the counter

Many years ago I woke up in a hotel to a blood-soaked pillow & sheets......

And blood all over the edge of the bedside cabinet.

I must have rolled over in the night, smacked my nose on the cabinet & given myself a nosebleed. All without waking up.

Have I ever mentioned that wife says I'm.a deep sleeper? 🤔

More likely you're a loud snorer and your wife whacked your nose? :-|

Been there, done that, trying to suture a cut on your right hand with your left hand is interesting. I scored a 5 when I showed my handwork to a nurse I know.
Nerve damage can take years to get right if it does at all.

It's still not right. Sometimes it feels as though I've just poured boiling water over it for a second or two. I should've had it seen to properly at the time, in hindsight

My grandad spent years playing cricket. Broke practically every finger in his hands and never had them properly set.

He can now give multi-turn directions now, just by using the appropriate finger and pointing...

Down the road, then left, then right, left, left and you're there 🫣😬

The photo doesn't do it justice as it doesn't show from top down

Take care of your hands chaps

I can't disagree with that. I've had nerve-damaged cuts professionally attended to, and it takes a long time to get the feeling back.
Well, it did for me, and I have had some

I admit at least my recovery will be (likely) be signifantly easier however first time I've had too go out too A&E for a legitimate reason and I'm now on 4 antibiotics every 6 hours for the next 5 days.

Dropped a bullet into mud and I had a tiny cut that blew up the following morning would of never expected something like that too happen especially on a tiny surface scratch, and like the dumbass I am I've waited 7 days too get onto antibiotics.😬

Sepsis risk?
That doesn’t sound good 😬
Glad you're getting the treatment you need.
Take care of yourself!
Wishing you all the best for a speedy recovery.

Always risk of leptospirosis in that scenario. 🤞🤞🤞

They never mentioned Sepsis but they did come up too A&E If anything progresses, There's without a doubt an infection however there's been a complete lack of pus thankfully.
The thing that kind of weirded me out Is was pretty sore on 23rd/24th then was just tender on Christmas I figured it was dwindling down and didnt need seen too then slowly over the last few days Its came back a little bit.

Like right now I could not shoot with the finger, but yesterday I shot two deer and even gralloched them without minding (I'm leftie for knife work, but a righty for pulling guts out at least so the bad hand stays clean!)

Wonder how butchering will go tomorrow I cant see that effecting me much now 🤷‍♀️sure it hurts, but the wound Is completely healed and Its internal now.

Here's one to look out for then, especially if you're on blood thinners.
I had a fall off a ladder (broke fibu.la), off to A&E, heading scan etc., all clear so sent home. 2/3 days later, what's that lump in me neck, ruddy 'ell I feel awful, me 'eads thumpin', I got 'ell of a temperature, I'm having lunatic dreams, and me necks getting bigger. Another 4 days pass, me necks bigger still, and I decide it's time for the doc. Off I go, he takes one look at me, takes me temp, says "Take a seat, I'm calling an ambulance." Off to hospital again, IV antibiotics, more scans than you can shake a stick at. Turns out, during the fall, a tear occurred in soft tissue in top of thorax, causing bleeding and haematoma, which my lymph system considered to be a foreign invasion, so reacted to it and I had blood infection from myself 😕 Whaat!
All because of blood thinners, apparently.
I've knocked 'em on the 'ead after that episode; probably have a stroke next.
So beware; should you have a fall whilst out, and you get any of the above symptoms, get straight round the doc's.
