Folks this is something I’ve revisited a few times but the options seem to be pleasantly increasing a lot.

What do you find works well?

I appreciate whether a bullet shoots in a particular rifle will vary.

I tried power blades in the .270 and the didn’t seem to stabilise. Thumb hole at 100 then A4 at 200-250 which I couldn’t quite understand.

I also have the option for the 6.5x55 but still have plenty eldx for this and the .270 is really what I’d take if I (rarely) do a paid day.

Tempted by TTSX 110 grain but what works for you guys? The europe stuff I seem to hear is more carcass messy?

Ttsx 110gr will be fine in your 270
Hit shoulders and you’ll see damage

The Deercast (YouTube) have done a lot on this:



They now use the Fox bullets.

 
Cheers for the help folks and will watch the comparison.

Does anyone feel the yew tree TLRs kill better or are too messy vs the American stuff which I feel sound like you almost want to hit a bone?

Personally I stick to what I know works, I’ve used the Barnes TTSX for well over a decade and it has served its purpose. Well, I have said all along if you could get the UK copper projectile makers to carbon copy me a Barnes TTSX I would use it For certainly try it!

The big problem is and this is my personal opinion it’s all go fast and light and it’s un nesessary

How " un necessary" ?
I'm not doubting you and I just started my copper journey with a fast caliber .25-06...
And the main thing you hear is go lighter for caliber and drive em faster as needs it for expansion ....

Seems to be more conflicting advice coming these days

Dave45 why not use yewtree again ? Was it tlr ?

back when I started loading copper, there wasn’t all the bumpf there is now, all I had to go on with the Barnes reloading manual, which is where Igot my loads from, I just picked a bullet weight that I wanted to use found a load and made it work!

And that has served me well like I said, 15 years or more.

And in my personal experience, driving the correct weight for calibre at sensible speed produces very acceptable carcass damage
 
I use the 110gr TTSX in my 7mm-08 at similar velocity to what you will probably get in .270 and I find them great.

Contrary to some recent posts by others, i have never seen them shed petals although it is rare to recover one as they always pass through deer in my experience. I recently recovered one under the skin on a largish boar that had gone through A LOT of tough material to get there and had mushroomed perfectly with petals still attached.

I subscribe to slightly lighter and faster with these and know that @Norfolk Deer Search will be along again shortly to disagree!
