Chatsworth Country Fair having your trousers down?

So, thinks ENFIELDSPARES, why not take the ex to Chatsworth Country Fair on Sunday. So I go online and check the ticket prices. £35...each! Needless to say we won't be looking to be finding out any further details.

Good show, but not a shooting show. Bit of everything.

Didn’t see many orientals over the two full days I was there, so no idea where the comment about Chinese comes from.

Went last year. It's customary on a family day out to treat the family to an ice cream or 3.
8 quid each! I bought the kids one so not so seem a miserly skinflint, but 8 quid. It's a no from me.

I went Saturday, had arranged to shoot the clay line with a few others who changed their day to Sunday so I ended up shooting on my own☹️. I was talking to one of the trap guys about how quiet it was and he said "you should have been here Friday, I only did 25 people all day". It hasn't been a country fair now for years but my partner enjoys all the horsey stuff - and I get in free, definitely wouldn't pay the £35☹️

Too full of townies in Barbour jackets pretending they’re “country folk” for me nowadays. What happened to the good old country fairs where you could go and meet likeminded people and pick up a bargain or 2?

Nice scenic drive up there through Leek and Bakewell in the Friday.
Not much there shooting wise only the BDS and NGO tents.
No BASC as I could see got to look around the house included in the entry fee which was a bonus I thought.
(Shows are a far cry from the old midlands game fairs that were)

Killed by the Internet, as least when it comes to the larger shows like the Game Fair. No need these days to go to a show for bargains, when a few minutes on Google will result in a far greater choice and you can then get things delivered in a day or two.

I feel bad for those who put all the effort into organising displays in the show rings. Last time I went to the Game Fair you could pick your seat, as so few people in the crowds were bothering to watch.

Near us, the small country show decided to stop the parade of the local foxhound pack, owing to protests from some of the "locals" on social media. Made it an easy decision not to give them our money.

Thankfully the local ploughing match still understands what makes for a good show.

I've never attended game or country fairs with the intention of seeking out a bargain it's always been to experience the day, if I did come across a bargain then that's been a bonus.
However unfortunately so many game fairs and country shows have become totally devalued and now have little to be associated with the countryside. They've become nothing more than a Sunday market.

I agree Southwell ploughing match near me is far better than most of the bigger shows nowadays. I just hope they remember their roots and don’t follow the bigger shows by becoming too expensive.
As for your comment on the internet, I completely understand what you’re saying but there’s nothing better than going to a fair and coming back with a bargain.

There are good shows to be had, stalking show, shooting show etc, you just have to be picky, near me we have Ashover and Hope shows great old fashioned farming affairs always worth attending 👍
