Small Diesel Mulching Mower

This is definitely off topic.

I am trying to research a diesel powered mulching ride on mower that is not too heavy (too avoid sinking into lawn too much). Just needs to mulch away, no collecting required

I have tried an Iseki TXGS24 sub compact tractor but it is too heavy. Superb tool though.

So looking for something lighter ....

Will be for the Mrs primarily so needs to be collision proof.

Needs to be diesel

Any ideas ?

Cheers !

Why diesel, which is unusual and would tend to be lighter?
If petrol have a look at Orec Rabbit, Grillo Climber or Etesia Attila. there is not much between them. I have a grillo climber 9.22 and its excellent. it cuts rough areas, banks, head high grass, whatever you throw at it.
The cut won't be golf course standard, but better than a tractor and PTO cutter.

Stiga! Stiga! Stiga! The out fronts type - they are fantastic - don’t rule out the larger petrol engine ones as the 25+hp ones are fantastic.

I use a park pro 25 for cutting 4 acres and it’s fantastic, has. 4ft wide cut mulching deck, 4wd, articulated steering, cruise control, and I have done over 700 hours on mine and it’s been faultless.

The only thing I would change it for is an out front Kubota as you can get a wider cut however it would likely be more problematic getting into tight spaces.

I did look at the Stiga Titan however they are eye watering expensive!

EDIT - I notice you are in Aberdeenshire - you are more than welcome to pop round and try/look at the one I have. 👍🏻

Regards,
Gixer

I want to use red diesel and in my experience diesel usually a lot less hassle over time. However they are heavier, so good point.

Familiar with Etesia, they have a good reputation. Will have another look.

Anyone ever tried a small zero turn type mower ?

Mid mower deck on a TXGS24 is excellent, but too heavy a machine

Can you recommend a smalllish diesel Stiga Gixer ?
You do get the park pro in diesel but when I looked at them the benefits were not really there…and it seemed a fair bit noisier.

The Park 520DP are the older diesel ones and I think the 700 series are the newer ones.

Luckily there are 2 dealers in the area so plenty around here,

Can you not put larger or double tyres on the machine that is "too heavy"? It's not weight which is the problem but ground pressure.

Kinda over the top (I know) but a small CTL and a brush mower would accomplish what you ask, without tearing up the lawn (so long as you don't take any tight turns). Just really depends on how much property you have to cover and the price you're willing to pay.

A tracked prime mover will reduce the amount of pressure placed on the lawn.

Not sure the Mrs will be keen on that, something a bit more nippy

I have a grill walk behind slope bush cutter. Takes a beating. They are well made and usually Honda engines in some.
Grillo seems up there with Etesia .

I think it needs to be a mulching sit on for lawns, can do the rough stuff with other machinery

I use a robot to cut a steep bank, lawns and an orchard, best thing I have ever done. The grass is looking better and is always mown, I have a Husqvarna 435X AWD it doesn't need wires and just gets on with it.
