Freezer for the shed / garage / outbuilding ?

I have an upright freezer inside my larder, which is itself a refrigerated environment. No problems
I have another upright freezer in the shed that houses my larder. Again, no problems.
You just have to get one that's rated for use in low temperature environments.

^^^ Exactly that. It's the key thing I learnt the hard way and now all my garage fridges and freezers I'm running are Beko as they are SN Class rated for outdoor storage use.

These are the European climate classes for domestic refrigeration units:
N (Normal) Class = +16°C to +32°C ambient room temperature
SN (Sub Normal) Class = +10°C to +32°C ambient room temperature
ST (Sub Tropical) Class = +18°C to +38°C ambient room temperature
T (Tropical) Class = +18°C to +43°C ambient room temperature
Most fridges/freezers sold in this country are N Class.

AO do a decent chest freezer suitable for garages/ outbuildings and thats what I have used for the last 5 years or so and its been spot on.
I went off upright freezers when one had a slight ice build up and managed to push the drawers open which then opened the door,probably my fault for filling it too much.

I have an electric heater with a thermostat set to trigger it at 2 deg C. This is mainly to stop the deer larder pipes freezing but also prevents issue with the fridges and freezers

I’ve used old kitchen fridgefreezers in the garage and shed for years, didn’t realise you got ones for outside environments and they have run faultlessly speak to a local kitchen fitter, they might pick them up when replacing folk’s kitchens

Have 2 chest freezers and a fridge in an unheated shed and never had an issue
You "pay your money and make your choice" - I lost the contents of a Hotpoint freezer quite a few winters back when it stopped working in the low temperatures and we lost the quite costly contents. Since then, have gone with Beko's (and remote temperature monitoring).
