.260, the start of my reloading journey - advice wanted

i ran a 260rem for a good while when they were cool before the creedmoor came along , i used N560 in lapua cases with the 140gr amax the problem i found was seating the bullet long enough in aics mags a problem the creed does not have

it's a great calibre which if supported properly would have probably stopped any need for the creedmoor

And therein lies the rub. Remington was crap for supporting their own cartridges. They firmly own the responsibility for the demise of the .260.

Well Maybe that and lack of neck length and twist rate suitability for the longer bullets, no ?

Which weirdly enough brings it kind of full circle, because why not then just go back to the European or European derived cartridges, which the 308 family pretty much replaced, (which typically comes with longer necks and lower twist rate barrels), instead of going for the creedmoore family?

I'm thinking of Cartridges like the 6mm Remington, 257 Roberts, 6,5x57 or 55 and of course the 7x57.

But then again that wouldn't have had a great novelty marketing factor I guess, and it would also require a mid or long sized action. And g+d forbid most hunters should carry 200 grams, if that, or 1 more inch around in the Field.

We really are chumps to the workings of the market at Times. And i say this as quite far from Being anti market as such.

I only shoot target, but my preference is 139gn Lapua Scenar, 43.2gns Vit160, runs at 2730 fps out of my Sako 85 26inch barrel producing 1/2 moa groups at 100 and still over 1200fps at 1200yards.
