Athlon Rangecraft Velocity Pro Radar Chronograph £359.99 Or Garmin Xero C1 Pro Chronograph £529.99?

Would you like to expand that in more detail?
To accurately read BC you need at least two data points some distance apart.
I would expect that paying twice the cost would result in extra benefits.
I can’t find any data that proves the FX can read velocity at several distances. It shows data points at muzzle, 25,50,75 and 100yds. Without some sort of proof it’s read velocity at muzzle and at range, it’s just an algorithm 🤷‍♂️

I will be happy to be proven wrong 👍

The Caldwell provides 10 data points

All be it only out to 100m

Still

At a similar price (now) to the garmin, it provides an additional level of value to .22LR that is not offered by either of the other two

That’s very interesting, I didn’t look at the Caldwell, as I don’t know anyone who has one. I have used mine on a HW100 .177 sub 12, 93 shots with an SD of 4.6 ES if 13. I was careful to keep the air between 250 and 200 bar so as to avoid any spikes up or down

Whilst shooting 22 lr Benchrest, I have yet to use the Garmin with it.

Thanks for the info

Hi All….My shooting partner has the Athlon & I have to say it’s impressive, never missed a shot yet & he/we have tried it using air rifles, small-bore & full-bore, even better than my Bulletseeker imo….
Best of…..

I've used the Garmin indoors and outdoors with air rifles (.177 and .22), through 22LR and 22 WMR and up to .17 Rem Fireball speeds (tiny bullet, 4000+fps) and it only missed a beat once indoors with multiple firers on a gallery rifle session. You have to align it a little more studiously for pistol shooting indoors, but otherwise all is fine.

Have a friend with the Labradar LX and side by side they read very similar, but he has the LX for its additional functionality. It also has an ally chassis and so is heavier, but not had the Garmin blow over yet.

Regards

I’ve been using both the Athlon and Garmin at Bisley is very strong winds and eventually the Garmin keeled over. It must have been gusting above 35mph from out 10 o’clock so far from normal, I don’t consider the Garmin in anyway (other than price) inferior or superior to the Athlon to be honest

Moving on a bit, I used my Athlon indoors again yesterday. 2ft in front and 4 feet to my left was a huge pillar and cast stell pipe about 15 in diameter, to my right at about 4 feet was a solid brick wall all the length of the range. The Athlon didn’t miss a beat - my buddies Garmin didn’t either to be honest👍
There was a 308 3 meters to my left, it never registered on either device.

As a very happy user of the Garmin, if I had to replace it I would seriously consider the Athlon depending on the deal, price/warrenty/availability etc.

A chronograph is great for load development and I use it for all shots on the range from air pistols upwards, if I need BC I use the bullet manufactures data.

Interested in this as I’m looking to buy a chronograph and it’s good to hear that the Athlon is still performing well, though it’s only been a few months of course.

Hi it says in the Athlon information that it's for outdoor use only.. do you know if this is correct?
Thanks
No it works well indoors - providing there are only a few shoots around. Full bore with muzzle breaks would cause issues I think.
Mine has worked well with underllevers and the odd 308 on the range

Trialled it with the 22lr at an indoor 35m range with low ceiling, close walls and someone also shooting lr 5ft to my left.
Seemed to work perfectly and only picked up my shots... more than happy 😊
