. I just disassembled a recent find, put it through a half hours ultrasound bath @ 65 C, ( The butchered heads of some of the fixings are not my doings), I will be letting North Wales licensing know I am in possession of an obsolete antique curio revolver in obsolete caliber 7mm pinfire.

As it just so happens, I do a disposal service for all obsolete firearms and/or ammunition. This is a free service naturally and with free advice for anyone with concerns.
For just the price of the postage you can have total peace of mind.
And if you’re further south then I can offer the same service, especially if you have any nice rook rifles in original calibre 👍

Just to clarify my reasoning for my intention to let the plod know, I have had trouble visited on me as a law abiding firearms owner, many times over the past 55 years of going about with anything from an air pistol or rifle in my early teens, on through actual firearms, I have suffered the ignominy of being escorted / visited / detained / or otherwise inconvenienced in some way, sometimes caused by the well meaning, but mostly by those with other intent.

So a simple e mail with details and a pic showing the pinfire mechanism should preclude any nonsense.
I believe in covering all the bases in life, but not to the extent of calling them up every time I want to go shoot.

Sorry I’m a bit confused.
As this is a totally uncontrolled item. Why on earth would you bother to inform the police?
Anyone with an agenda is a massive vague statement.
If you are worried about having it in your possession, get rid of it.
I think you are a lucky chappie, not ever having been busy bodied by anyone, I feel for those collectors who may still have, let's say a genuine war relic from their Grandfather's efforts against the Japanese Imperial army over the fireplace.:tiphat:
When I lived in Cheshire an instance of busy bodying was let on to me by a great f.l.o. I had once, He said "I answered a call today from one of your neighbours," he was commenting on my ownership of a particular firearm, my f.l.o. replied, "We know exactly how many firearms Mr L****** has Mr *******, thank you very much"

Your making a rod for your own back
And the backs of others .

Call them up and mention antique pistol at your own peril. All it takes is the wrong un-knowledgeable person in the other end and you’ll regret calling.

Seriously, if you notify the police of your latest acquisition, namely your 7mm pinfire revolver, you stand a very good chance of getting a visit from them and, unless the person to whom the call is assigned to knows about section 58 of the Firearms Act, you may find yourself in a situation you don't want and could have easily avoided.
