Sale on Lead Bullets

Any thoughts..Will there be a sale on lead heads ahead of the ban next year or will shops try and sell off what they have without ordering any further stock...Ban won't apply to N Ireland. I wonder even will shops be able to sell any stock after the ban comes into force as long as it's transited to NI...

Lead bullets will remain lawful on indoor ranges. Many such either allow the use of handloaded ammunition or themselves handload ammunition for use by users of the range. Leicester Shooting Centre for example allows use of reduced power lead bullet .303 ammunition and other similar military cartridges loaded with lead bullets. The issue for them is not the sourcing of lead bullets but of Trail Boss!

Sound..I wonder will the price of lead heads increase here when the bans effected...Has always been cheaper to buy mainland than NI...With no other source I'm guessing prices here will go up..Cheers

The ban is not next year, it is expected the legislation will be next year and then a three year transition until 2029.
Then lead bullets will still be legal for target shooting but not live quarry.
And then they won’t be illegal to own by anyone.

I don't know. There's two ways of looking at it. Maybe some makers will have a "fire sale" of stock to dispose of it while there is still a market. The other view is that maybe some producers will wind down or go out of business?

Which then may cause prices to rise? My own opinion is that most all lead bullets in Great Britain are used in carbines anyway and such carbines are used either on indoor ranges or outdoor ranges where recovery of the fired bullets is able to be done in compliance with the proposed restrictions.

Northern Ireland of course (where pistols are still lawful for target shooting just as the Channel Islands and Isle of Man) will be under whatever the EU decides and my gut feeling is that the EU will reject a ban. As their shooting lobby is far more effective than the near supine BASC.

Good points ...wait and see game. Pity..even with postage buying heads in the UK was always cheaper

The other thing is that some of these producers are owned by old blokes so when they get too old will there be new blood wanting to take over the casting ladle? Not that these things are cast with a ladle but more likely a Magma machine but it makes the point. My advice is stockpile now or later but stockpile.

Believe you in me, I'd tell it to your face.
In the same non aggressive manor.
You are boxing above your weight.
We shoot bullets from our rifles. We do not shoot heads from them.
Heads are reserved for other duties.
Like trying to sound clever, like making out one belongs with the in crowd or something similar.
