Anyone else fly them? I thought it might be a handy way of keeping an eye on deer numbers on my patch. Any tips, hints, or advice anyone can offer would be appreciated![]()
The gyros have killed a lot of pilots over the years. I have thought of one but now in my 70`s I dont have the heart for it ha ha.Get them to give you a demo.

Seriously thinking of trying paramotor flying when I finally do retire. At least you are strapped to an inflated parachute all the time. The gyros have killed a lot of pilots over the years. I have thought of one but now in my 70`s I dont have the heart for it ha ha.

I have had a cheapie and was very impressed with it. It was a simple $75 cheapie. I used two full boxes of.12g ammo to shoot the ****ing branches it was caught in lol. One box per branch. Shooting a single barrel baikal vertically does make ones shoulder sore i will add.I meant to demo a regular drone.![]()
Me also, love the idea of the safety factor.Seriously thinking of trying paramotor flying
From 2021 the first flight of my $75 dollar job. Visual line of sight flying only with no phone needed. It was fast, did back flips too and at times you lost sight of the ****. I had a lot of fun with it and it would get well up..est maybe half a k easy enough.I meant to demo a regular drone.![]()
I don't need to worry about that with this one apparently. It's under the 250g weight threshold, so it's exemptDon’t forget to register with the CAA and get a flyer ID and Operator ID. If caught without, could mean you risk your next FAC renewal inadvertently
You can get the DJI Mini 4K Fly More Combo for £339 on Amazon.I don't need to worry about that with this one apparently. It's under the 250g weight threshold, so it's exempt
Edit: Just checked, and apparently I do need an operator ID due to it having a camera on it
Yep. I'll use it more for interest rather than any kind of management tool. I'm not a deer manager anyway, so it makes little odds.Although I thought it might also be interesting to use the drone to look at stalking ground, I honestly don’t think small drones like this will really help when it comes to monitoring deer, as the flight time is pretty minimal. They say you get 30 minutes or so from each battery, but realistically it is perhaps 20 if you have “return to home” set on.
Don’t forget that you will need to attach your Operator ID somewhere on your drone.Yep. I'll use it more for interest rather than any kind of management tool. I'm not a deer manager anyway, so it makes little odds.
Managed to get both Flyer and Operator ID this morning, so that's those bases covered.
Thanks for the advice![]()
Thanks! I was wondering how best to do that. I'd thought about maybe just using a Sharpie, but those stickers are a far better idea. Just ordered some, so thanks againDon’t forget that you will need to attach your Operator ID somewhere on your drone.
You can buy customised stickers for this - I used a seller called AirPixel, who offers a very good service:

Operator ID Stickers for your drone, we also print CAA flyer ID cards
We print your Operator ID and phone number onto a custom made laminated sticker using resin print. Our stickers are favoured by the drone community as we offer quality assured, fast and free delivery. We also print ID cards ranging from A1/A3, A2 C of C and also the European EASA ID card.airpixel.co.uk
They should turn up in a day or two. Thanks! I was wondering how best to do that. I'd thought about maybe just using a Sharpie, but those stickers are a far better idea. Just ordered some, so thanks again![]()
I think the Potensic one's similar. Looking forward to having a play with itI don’t know about the Potensic drone, but the DJI Mini 4K is super easy to fly. It has auto take-off and land, but doesn’t have obstruction control
