.270 Ammunition for Tikka

I used Federal Powershok 130g for donkeys years when lead was allowed. Had to change to copper, tried a few and settled on to Sako Blades 120g.

In both my .270's these work well

Lead-
Norma whitetail 130grn soft point
Hornady American whitetail 130grn softpoint

Non lead-
Wapiti 120grn white tip
Sako blade 120grn
Hornady CX 130grn

Anyone got any experience with winchester extreme point non-toxic stuff in .270?
Its the cheapest non-toxic offering I can find, and Ive just placed an order for a new .270 rifle

I'm not sure if it's available in the UK but the 140 grain Hornady Interlock load is the most accurate I've tested in my .270 T3. The only nontoxic I've tested was the Norma 96 grain, surprisingly decent accuracy. I'm not sure how it performs on game though.

I’ve used it. Found it made as big an exit hole as lead bullets did. Grouped just over an inch at 100yards, this was with my 85. Others using other makes of rifles get better groups.

My tikka likes any of the Sako ammunition in lead, haven’t tried the lead free offerings as I don’t need to. Different calibre to a 270 though.

I homeload Barnes 110gr TTSX in my 20” Tikka .270 - used in a 22” Browning X-Bolt before that. Devastating round/combination on at range fallow :thumb:

A friend of mine used it in 270 we both use it in 243 and I use it in 308.

He’s only stopped using it in 270 as he’s started to struggle to find it and has moved to Sako powerhead 2? The one with the barnes TTSX copper bullet.

Thats interesting, do you know how he found it compared to the Sako 270?
Ive heard the Barnes bullets are meant to be one of the best loadings non-toxic or otherwise, but weirdly enough my RFDs cant seem to get a hold of it, only the Winchester stuff at the moment.
Admittingly, Id still like to try some of the lead loadings available first, but am well aware that I will be needing to move to copper sooner rather than later.
