Losing the plot. Sorry, I mean the bolt...

I've looked everywhere I can think of. All gun bags, not just the one it was in, The sofa, The bathroom, The kitchen, even the fridge !. LOL And been out to the car at least 3 times.
Dopey question, but…

As you take the bolt out have you checked the cabinet you store it in - or cabinets if you have more than one?

Can you run through in your mind the last time you used it & where you were when you removed the bolt?

I know it's not very helpful, but several years ago, a very elderly member of a club was in the same situation. He looked absolutely everywhere and in the end reported it to the police.

Two days after reporting, he found it.......in his wife's knicker draw!!!!!!

He wouldn't elaborate on why he looked in there and, given his advancing years, we didn't like to pry too much :-|

😂 😂 😂

Well, I store rifles in one cabinet. Bolts and ammunition in another. The two cabinets are not in the same location. When in transport the rifle , bolt and ammunition will be individually located in different parts of the vehicle. Any security system can be circumvented given time. The objective is make it as difficult as possible, for those who shouldn't, to obtain a working firearm in one swipe.

Yup. Checked the cabinet. removed all the rifles to see if it'd dropped into the cabinet. Nada, zip. As Toyah once said " it's a mystery ! ".

Im thinking you had the bolt in tour hand, something distracted you, ypu placed it somewhere! But where? Bloody frustrating, forget it for while, then retrace your steps again, i remember losing a pair of glasses out in the field, after searching everywhere i retraced my steps and found them along the fence line, yahoo

I've just had an e mail from the gunshop where I took the rifle to p/x it and noticed it was missing. They have a bolt there, but unsure if it's mine or not. I'll have to wait till Monday to find out. Fingers crossed eh ?.

Quote so, when I’m in transit the bolt and ammo stay on my person, at all times, no exceptions, so they’d have prise it out of my cold dead hand…

Christ Almighty, are you lot that Shite scared?

I travel all over the country the bolt stays in my rifle, once I get to my destination I do what I have to do and come still in my rifle, no law tells me I have to remove it so I don’t!
You are quite right - it is not specifically set out in writing it simply says 'reasonable care' and that is my and some others, interpretation of reasonable care.
Simple as that.
