Are these playing up again?
Started a new box of .223’s and got one missfire from 10.
I had quite a few missfires a while back and I believe there was a problem with their hard primers then?

I used 6 x 20 round boxes of 222 about 6 weeks ago without

I had 4 in a row fail to fire in 0.223. Primers all struck by the pin and failed to go off. Gun works fine with other ammo
Mine was struck ok, same as the others. I put it back in but it still wouldn’t fire on the second attempt.
I hope they ain’t having trouble again as I’ve bought 6 boxes and my rifle loves them. 😩

Did you try each one more than once?
KB.
Yes. The first one resulted in lots of examination and retries. After 4 in a row I gave up. This was while zeroing not on quarry thankfully. I.e plenty of time and space to investigate.

Cant comment for 223, but a mate of mine had a misfire in his 30-06 Hornady American Whitetail, was the first round out the box as well.
Hes used them countless times, and told me he will continue too, chalked it up to a one off.

Using it in a .270 without problem but I bought a large batch a long time ago.
Would you say the superformance in .270 is worth the extra money over the American Whitetail? Just got my rifle, and found an affordable source for the 130grn standard stuff.

I've nor used Whitetail so I couldn't say I'm afraid. It groups well and kills deer but I don't generally shoot beyond about 150m.

I had the same problem with Hornady 223.
I've used 16 from the last box and 3 failed to fire.
Also they look discoloured as if they haven't been stored well but we're like it when bought.

I had the same problem a few months ago, .223 53gn vmax, only 5 fired out of 20. The batch number was 817017, the primer seating depths were all over the place.

The shop swapped them for some from a different batch and I haven't had further problems. I have since moved onto Norma Tipstrike, extremely consistent, just not quite as explosive.
