Following on from my previous post as a newbie.
What are the legalities for reloading ?. As in do I need an explosives certificate or anything else from the police so I can legally buy powder, primers and projectiles etc ?.
Being a new member, I don't know if this has been covered before ?. I had a quick look but couldn't see anything.

Your FAC is your permission to buy primers, powder and bullets.
Just remember, if you do make your own ammunition, you do not enter the details on your certificate. Most people keep a note book of their reloads

For clarity and for anyone in NI in a similar unknowing “starting off” position - your FAC will not enable you to purchase powder and primers - PSNI require an Approval Form to be completed stating, inter alia, the amount of powder; number of primers you seek and the reason for so requiring. Without this a NI RFD cannot sell you said items.
Conversely in GB an RFD can sell you these on production of your NI FAC but you cannot (legally) bring your purchases into NI as this infringes both PSNI and maritime regulations.
Nah - makes no sense to me either….

Just make sure that you don't exceed your ammo limit when reloading. You can hold primers, propellent, bullet heads etc but when you put it together, it needs to be equal to or less than what your FAC states you can have with you at any given point in time.

And don't sell it to anyone, the legality of which is a lot different. Personally I don't hand what I reload to anyone else, even to just try as the loads are made to my rifle and unlike factory loads, how it behaves in a different rifle can be unpredictable.

As Sampo says;
complete rounds of ammuniton must not exceed your FAC limits, purchase or possess,
Primers & powder require a FAC to purchase but no limits to the amount you may purchase or possess,
Bullets and cases require no FAC to purchase or possess.

Good luck with the reloading!

Except in NI where you must have formal police approval to purchase powder and primers and the amount of powder you hold is restricted.
Just for clarity…
