Sad ,as we had the Alresford coursing club regularly using our patch to rules with mounted judge.
After the ban,the landowner told us to decimate the hare population to keep the "gentlemen" from continually robbing the farm .

When l go back to Hants,l love to watch the boxing.

And l worked dogs to rabbit, fox, and hare.

Be aware if you are in Suffolk/Norfolk, warning from rural crimes team team is not to confront …
Which rather begs the question of what is the Rural Crime (Police) Team able/willing to do by way of addresing these sickening crimes?

If the answer is "very little" I can't be alone in a concern that such inaction may well result in a tragedy if a seriously distraught landowner takes the law into their own hands. Something that may well have far reaching repocusions for all with an interest in the countryside and certain lawful pursuits.

This is what lead to the keeper at Linkenholt being within a brearth of being killed by catapult chaps.
Very nearly a murder.

Pikeys/vermin/travellers. I don't give a s**t. If there's a decent element amongst them, it's down to them to clean up in house. Until then, they're all tarred with the same brush (excuse the pun).

sucks for the dog but its just pest control.
what can you do with a confiscated coursing lurcher? give it away to spend its life on a lead?
no hit them where it hurts, destroy the dog
Cant agree with you there fella! The dog is not at fault!! Prosecute the people involved, confiscate vehicles and all other equipment used ( the same as fisheries enforcement) and generally make life uncomfortable for them. most ex. greyhounds and lurchers make good pets if kept on leads in areas where livestock are a problem. Be more proactive and present on your local ground, stop being dependant on the local plod to solve your woes. Haven't done a google maps on travelling times but I find it hard to believe that many would go the far for a nights lamping. Just cant se many doing it!

Had a chat with our new rural crimes team a couple of weeks ago warning of a group of Welsh poachers in the area (presumably spotted with Velcro on the front of their trousers) who are running their pikey dogs for deer and streaming it to slopes on the other side of the world. Overnight 2 deer found mauled and finished with Shotgun …

Probably stand out because of the lack of webbed feet and 6 fingers! 😂 😂 . With all that info from your local police why no arrests? Don't get me wrong, I know we have our fair share of tossers but if they are going there it isn't without LOCAL knowledge!!

Just typed West Leicestershire to Lincolnshire into maps and came up with 1 hour 38 mins. Don't think that's doable from Wales and certainly not without knowing where you were lamping or who you were meeting.

Back in the day... when coursing was all legal, I know of one chap who never did a day's work or had a job until he was 26 years old. He was obsessed with hunting with dogs, mostly coursing, and mostly "match". He and a few chums would start coursing in Essex and generally end up somewhere in East Anglia, dodging the law and farmers if they could, they would only stop when the light went. His grandson loves the dogs, but it's all rabbiting with a pack of smart Russells now. It's a drug for some folks.

Its not the dogs fault ! Those who run the dogs illegally don't honestly care about the dogs and will only get more . TBF the hunting with dogs acts was very , very poor legislation that mainly hit hardest to the responsible owners.
cant agree with you, blood lines are valuable, you cant just get another coursing lucher over night.
what they are doing was illegal before the dog act.
i doubt you could find a kennels that would take the dogs and the extra cost to tax payers.

I have been to this meet and it was wonderful.

My neighbour has had a rescue "pikey" dog that was picked up starving and ill in London a few years ago, having apparently been abandoned.
Arthritic now, and costing him a fortune at the greedy vets, but he loves the friendly old lurcher to bits.
It's been said before, it ain't the dogs that's the problem, it's the cnuts that exploit them and then dump them when they're worn out.

police need to start destroying the dogs

Why destroy the hounds?

Coursing hounds I’ve seen rescued from both Ireland and England are treated appallingly and discarded when malnutrition or illness takes a hold. Our Lurcher is a dearly loved family member and her prior life was utterly barbaric at the hands of individuals who had zero intention of caring for her and many others. Until laws on these matters are firmed up and our police are given the resources to enforce them , many more hounds and deer will continue to suffer.
