BASC Firearms Licensing support

One of the key benefits of BASC membership is access to expert advice from regional and country teams. This includes help with every aspect of shooting and conservation, as well as specialist guidance on firearms licensing. BASC currently has six firearms officers covering England and Wales. Much of their work involves helping members with certificate renewals and grants. Read the article below to find out more.

Not my experience in 2018, although hopefully a different one now
I think the difference these days is having the fighting fund available to assist with funding court appeals. The police use the costs associated with appeals to indirectly discourage those who disagree with their decisions and having the offer of financial support from BASC in addition to the more technical support can be a game changer

I didn't think BASC funded court appeals anymore although happy to be corrected, and from what I've read in the post while good, is little more than a shooters citizens advice bureau.
Hopefully, and in your case it seems to be, the people giving advice have improved somewhat since I last called them. Heading in the right direction it seems

Not necessarily in your interests though

They are concerned with profit/ loss, image and market share

Not necessarily the concerns of the insured

But surely you can see that sometimes the insured does something to bring us all in to disrepute ?

The following article perhaps helps explain things.

Some case studies:

Im considering joining either BASC or NGO purely for the legal advice (member of GWCT for most other things). Can anyone suggest if one is better than the other based on that? Tia

Could always consider Layla………

What is BASC's stance on the ever increase use of "voluntary surrender of tickets and or weapons" how can BASC assist there. At this moment we are at the mercy of Police F A Depts workload

That's down to a case by case basis that BASC firearms team assist members with.

I had my issue with my FEO who made up her own rules, the first gentleman I spoke with was a good strong character and was ready to get the bit between his teeth to fight for what was legally correct. The second member of staff I spoke with bent over and took it immediately. Not what I would call great support.
