Nuisance phone calls 🤬

So we’re all used to the phone display showing a geographic UK number or what looks like a UK mobile number but knowing full well it’s probably a computer generated nuisance call that’ll be a call centre somewhere saying you're due compensation for this that or the other.

Personally I ignore these calls on the basis that if it’s someone I know it’ll have their name against the number from my contacts, or, if it’s a genuine call they’ll leave a voicemail.

This morning the phone rings & it’s a UK mobile number but not one I recognise so I leave it.

A short while later I get the voicemail notification so I play them message back…

…it’s in phucking Chinese for phucks sake!!

😂 I sometimes answer them just so I can tell them to F rite off, have one the other day saying the FBI were after me, they must of opened a West Yorkshire branch🙈

Was it from Mr&Mrs Whan king

Since the CO OP hack I have had masses but use a call blocker so they come up as spam and I don't answer.

I get unwanted messages and requests for phone conversations, I just ignore the individual responsible!

Many years ago, I had a call from a double glazing salesman. I told him we had new windows but his conservatories sounded interesting. After he rambled on about how good they were and making an appointment for one of his team to come and visit, I casually said. " Just one thing, how exactly do you fix them to a first floor flat?" There was a 2 second pause before the line went dead. 😁

I've got a mate who answers this type of call with the phrase " Detective Inspector (his surname" here, can I help you? Reckons his number gets put on a do not call list after that 🤣
He's stolen mine Jess. I usually say that we are investigating an attempted murder and I'm at the crime scene. If they are still there I ask for their name and address if and they are an associate of the victim. Dialling tone returns.

When they tell you that you are due compensation for the accident you were in tell them that you died that really puts them on the back foot
My brother got fed up with the accident calls so decided to have some fun one day - back story is that when he was 17 he was involved in a road accident that killed one driver & left him with what they now refer to as life changing injuries.

He answers the phone & gets told that as he’s been in an accident he is due compensation & they can help him get what’s owed to him. He decides to play along 😈

After some considerable time they’ve made careful notes of the details of what happened, who he believes was at fault, what injuries he sustained, etc. & all the time seeming to get more & more interested in getting him as much compensation as they can. He even starts to play on the emotional side of things, saying how his life has been ruined etc.

The excitement is clear in the callers voice, probably thinking of the commission they’ll get from what is clearly going to be such a big compensation payout, as they ask the question they should have asked at the outset - when did this happen? 1986 he says - there’s a brief silence then he gets sworn at before the line goes dead 😝

I will reiterate on my go to answer.

To caller " hey do you know that while you are sitting there calling me from your office that your brother is at your house ****ing your wife"
They all have brothers lots of them ...insert sister if its a female caller.

I love getting these calls (the mrs hates it).
My 2 playbooks:
1. I’m shopping and start asking what I should buy low fat mince and see how long I can keep them on the call for.
2. My favourite:
You’ve been involved in an accident and it’s not your fault.
Me: yes thank goodness you called, nobody believes me but you do.
Them: where was the accident
Me: m25
Them: What happened
Me: it was terrible a five car pile up- really scary, I elaborate massively giving details of all cars. The noises etc.
The police blame me but it’s not my fault
Them: why do the police blame you?
Me: they said I was drunk but I wasn’t. The breathaliser was faulty and we all know the rules, right: 5 to drive, 10 for real men and I only had six pints.
Them: how did the crash happen
Me the other drivers were crazy just because I was going the wrong way on m25 doesn’t mean there bad driving can be excused.
At this stage they have usually hung up and I win🤣🤣
