Cheshire gun room

As anybody had many dealings with this company, I put a deposit down on a rifle 15 July after many emails phone calls threaten legal action if don’t sort so received rifle 9th December was told couldnt send to my local gun shop as will cost a fortune so did a 5 hour round trip, to find after it costs about £20. Took the rifle to have ammunition made by a local gun smith and on him first putting a camera down barrel said it’s absolutely pitted to death waste of time making ammunition for it. So sent back to Cheshire gun room. The owner John seems to be the hardest person in the world to get hold of staff answer phone when realise it’s me say sorry he’s not in!!
No one gets back to my emails or phone calls. Anybody else have this problem how did they sort it?

Did the RFD actually shoot it? I've seen many rifles that some would condemn as scrap shoot perfectly well. Borescopes are nothing other than a shortcut to sleepless nights and a loss of confidence in my opinion. And if the rifle was cheap, and doesn't actually shoot, a rebarrel is always an option?

Not the easiest person to deal with but, of course, the devil is in the detail and how the rifle was described. Did you not inspect the rifle when you visited Cheshire Gun Room in December 2024? In which case I'd argue that you had a chance to inspect it and reject it and now in May 2025 aren't happy with it? I've had guns that had barrels like drainpipes. Worst was a 1913 made Colt 1911 that barrel really did look like the inside of a drainpipe. I had a Tokarev TT-30 that was worse. Yet offhand (that is one handed) the Colt would shoot sub-two inch groups at twenty yards all day long and the Tokarev would shoot one handed three inch groups at the same distance. My own view is that I'm sorry you have had a bad experience but that your December 2024 visist will be fatal to any claim for redress.

I bought the rifle brand new, had 4 months and the barrels are pitted, got a second had rifle I’ve had 10+ years with beta condition barrel.

What cleaning regime have you used when it has been out? Do you use a moderator with it and has it been out in the rain?
Yes been out in rain completely dryed and bore snake dragged threw and gun oil like all my rifles for the last 35years I’ve been shooting and never had a problem like this before

I believe Sako warranty is void if you use none factory ammunition so hopefully the gun smith didn’t make any ammunition for you.
proving the rifle was pitted at time of purchasing and un fired could be difficult the dispute is with the shop not Sako direct can you ask the gun smith for an independent report then seek legal advice.

I’ve only shot factory ammo threw it 👍

No probs👍just spoke to owner nothing they can do it’s all my fault and are sending gun back.worst people I have ever dealt with in my life
How did you pay for it? If on a credit card, you have Section 75 protection for a longer period of time than most people think. Always buy costly items on a credit card to ensure you have protection above and beyond standard warranty.

This is still within the 1yr sale of goods warranty period though, so I would tell them you are getting trading standards involved. When retailers get stupidly obstructive, they can be leant on more than you think. Unfortunately many try it on. Don't give in if you truly think you have done nothing wrong and been sold a dog.
