As a former smoker it won't affect me, but when I see the price of the things these days I'm stunned. I honestly don't know how it can be affordable. Anyway, that's none of my business.
Apparently the average cost of a pack these days is £16.78, and it's gone up by almost a pound as of 6pm this evening.
I haven't smoked since 2011 or so, but even then it was getting expensive. When I first started, Regal King Size (the fag of choice for us back then) was £1.33 for 20. Then Lambert and Butler appeared at £1.14 and swept the board. Golden Virginia was 87pence per 1/2oz.
And here's something I've always wanted to say, 'Back in my day, you could buy your tobacco, papers, and a racket of Polo's, and still have change from a pound'
