How many deer do you shoot in a season

As many does as we can plus a few bucks. Gone are the days of 120 Fallow and 80+ Roe. With a few Red in the park, plus helping a mate with his last week at the hinds.

OK then....at the risk of leaving myself open to utter ridicule from the "serious" deer stalkers on the site......
In a typical year I will shoot between 1 and 5 deer - maybe a few more if I need to provide venison for friends and family. My freezer is the deciding measure and as I don't have my own land, any stalking is bought days here and there. Love it and don't really care if this puts me in the mere amateur bracket:tiphat:
Absolutely no issues. As I’ve written elsewhere on here, I have no AGHE within reasonable distance of me so years ago when I got back into stalking like you, my culling was limited by personal freezer space/consumption. Wanting to get out more, I branched out into butchery/supply and haven’t looked back. In the last 10 years I have only put two carcasses into a game dealer; the first when I started and the last earlier this years when I simply couldn’t get the 4 fallow I’d shot into the back of my Discovery Sport. So left one in the site chiller for a friend took it and put into Hampshire game. I’m on the cusp of retiring and my current level of cull/supply means that I can continue to enjoy getting out doing what I enjoy into retirement with it being affordable.

I’m a bit similar - 6/7 per annum and climbing, now so have time, even if so don’t have the ground. I tend to shoot one eat one and give meat away, but I’ll be doing more next year.

BLUF: 16 this year so far.

I only shoot the three small species, locally, on agricultural land; my constraints are my handling capacity, i.e. how speedily & efficiently I can get them home, skin them, butcher them, dispose of the waste & offload the meat.

Breakdown is:

Roe, M: 6
Roe, F: 2
CWD, M: 1
CWD, F: 3
Muntjac, M: 1
Muntjac, F: 3

its been wildly different through the last twenty years , lots of different reason why . I suppose if a person just books with a guide or guides for so many days they will be very steady unless something gets in the way like health or income loss etc

After a long time doing none I just get a few fallow a year now.
I'm good with it, it's fun and not a chore although extraction can be a chore sometimes.

54 roe so far this year but could shoot a lot more but no market for them .

Plus not just a 1 trick pony , spend a lot of time shooting rabbits , pigeons , crows , foxes etc
Bet you wont tell what else you like to do in your spare time?? 🤔

Yes I must agree Reds in the rain are hard work. Especially if your knocking a few over every season. 20251129_130229.webp

This was No 117 since Jan (should be around 125 but friends wife is unwell so not been over to him) + foxes

What scope are you using there? I have quite chunky cross hairs on my S&B 8x56. Yours looks more precise, though maybe harder to pick up sometimes?

It's what I did for many years, and nothing wrong with it. Just starting to do a bit more now.

My chest freezer is full as I don’t have an outlet to sell the roe at a price that would not make me vomit. Went for a walk this afternoon and counted 10 on my ground but they can wait for now. Used to shoot numbers but post Covid it’s just not economical for me.
