Belling, colloquially known as 'honking' subtitled why oomph is warranted.'

Some hunters have literally scitt their pants when an unseen Sambar explodes out of heavy cover and 'honks' It is a very loud noise designed by nature to put off predators and give them valuable seconds to bolt. Old video from 2021.
Sambar will often sit and wait it out as the hunter gets nearer and will often let him/ them walk past a few yards away,or bell and go,that makes ya ****ing jump ha ha.
I haven't schitt my daks as yet but have had plenty of jumps lol.

A bush buster is a far far better calibre than underpowered .243/6.5`s,they are not the calibres for our solid bush hunting, whilst some tout about them and their attributes and also other calibres as being the ducks nuts you can see why in the vid below why the 'oomphers' are generally used in heavier bush situations.

Hi John, been meaning to ask you your thoughts about the Aussie YouTube pest controllers like Nathan with the Edge of the Outback channel.
I guess it's a job that needs doing, many outfits like his operating?
Shame so much of the venison goes to waste. He usually takes off the back straps on some, and that's it.

There are 100`s and 100`s more blokes (or more) that do the same thing here in Australia without looking for limelight or wanting to be youtubers BD. Then there is credit as there is a lot of work in doing it and filming AND the editing which imo is the schitt end of it.
I know blokes that shoot tons of deer for the meat trade at night,on the ph one of the fellas was saying "we shot 2.7 tonnes the other night" they aren't out there to gain fans, its a job.
Btw he uses a .308 and buys, as he said "the cheapest `08 ammo they have in the shop"

Ha, it's a different league when you start using tonnage as the measure of a successful night 🙂.
I thought there must be plenty of work on the invasive species.
Thanks for the reply, John.

Yes BD there is plenty of work, the roo shooters are another lot that also shoot tons. I have an old pic of shooters with 97 roos on trailer and truck, thats a couple of tons. When the wild boar industry was huge a mate in Port Macquarie I called in for a feed and camp showed me the house and pool that he bought with 'wild pig dough' Btw the median price in PM is circa $900,000 atm. Tough jobs, tough life but quick money for a few that put in the years of often schitt conditions.
2.7 tonnes bloke said "I pulled the truck up down the road from your joint at 10PM and sat in it waiting for the ****ing rain to stop, after a few hours waiting I went home" No money that night.
Its totally different to shooting a few muntjac or fallow at night in the UK I imagine.

Hello John

Thank you for sharing the clips - had me enthralled. The first seemed to be giving you the 'death-stare'..........
The deer seemed nearer (leastways to my eyes!) than your usual '...283.5, 324.2 yds away'!
The cover must be a 'mare to find them if they do bolt after being touched, then the retrieve :(

Hence the subject line. Quite often videos don`t show what is between the target and the hunter. IE how steep/deep/thick etc.
The stag has a two metre deep, two metre wide vertical walled gutter (with blackberry) in the bottom of the gully to cross, imagine trying to get back out with a 100 lb leg on your shoulder. I could do it 20 years ago,not now. Or cross over, then take the leg off then walk 'upstream' for 3-400 yards and cross where the gutter starts.REPEAT!
