Toyota Hilux are getting cheap - what happened?

Informing my decision on a pickup in the not-too-distant future, I've noticed that Toyota Hilux seem to be getting quite cheap for low mileage, 3-4 year old trucks. What happened? Is this related to them getting nicked frequently or is there something else occuring that is meaning people want to shift their trucks on?

Nothing like the number of Ford Rangers for sale, mind you 😂

Low miles 2008 - 12 Hilux have been great. I’m trying my hardest not to buy any toyota after 2012 as they appear get more and more strangled by emissions and electronics. Having said that, there as a problem with one of the engines in that date frame - maybe the 3.0? However, rather have a Toyota made truck over any European offering.

Ford ranger completely lost on me with wet belt. Have driven the most recent Transits problems waiting in the wings there as well.

I was scratching my head a bit wondering why the D-Max was commanding the same premium as the Hilux, albeit the higher spec D-Max trucks but that seems to be revealed to me now. I've not seen much of a bad word about the Isuzus, they seem to be fairly trouble free motoring considering what else is on offer at the moment

very high theft numbers ,rotting chassis, eats wheel bearing for breakfast and guzzled add blue ! they are getting very expensive to run.
I have a 2.8, thing amazes me how little I have to fill the AdBlue. 39k since Mar 23, replaced front discs and pads, that's it so far (as it should be really).
I fit a heavy duty steering wheel lock overnight.

Chassis recall.

Mine went into the dealer on July 1st.

I got a replacement vehicle on July 23rd.

As of last week, it’s still sitting at the dealer waiting to be picked up. It is apparently on the docket to be picked up ‘in the next few week’.

They say it will be a minimum of 14 weeks from when it gets picked up.

So I’m unlikely to get it back before mid March.

How much rust would you like with your truck?

My work colleague has just had his done.

How long did it take?
About 6/8 weeks I think, by the way he was telling me it’s an absolute shambles, Toyota are sending the trucks to a third-party to deal with the job so when you go for your courtesy vehicle you’re not necessarily getting what you need or require he had to fight like hell to get a crew cab and get a courtesy truck with a towbar.
