Vastlite Bow. Warning!

In someone’s recent thread about LEP torches someone posted a link to an extension tube to enable a Vastlite Bow to accommodate 2 x 18350 batteries instead of 1.
My extension tube came today and using the battery supplied by Vastlite which has its own charging port and a regular battery the parts won’t screw together because the batteries are too long. So, tried to regular (No charge port) and the 2 batteries go in and it screws together.
I did see a very small spark when first offering the parts together.
Once together the light out put is about 1 candle power!
Take the extension out and replace original battery and light output is still dim.
Looks like the extension has buggered my Bow.
Probably best not to try it yourself, if you were thinking of, that is.

I have to say I read it as being an extension for one battery only, of 18650 size, (3,7v) not for 2 of the 18350 (3,7 plus another 3,7v) - I don’t know what the blurb recommends it for but I thought the extension was just for an 18650, which would possibly explain both the physical dimensional limitations and probably the resultant effects on the torch?

Does the blurb mention using two 3,7v batteries?

Zero paperwork in the box but thinking about what you say, I’ve possibly done the damage myself.
I couldn’t find the link when I looked before putting batteries in.
Need to go back to Kindergarten!

The extension was to be able to use an 18650 Ken!

My Versa Bow turned up this morning too… battery now on charge

I notice they’re now doing battery extension tubes for the bow so you can use 18650’s

Out of interest, do you find a very tight beam "useful" for hunting.
I had an extended thrower that was an LED and that was very tight and long throw with almost no spill at all.
It was (for me) only useful if you wanted to sweep but didnt want the spill like a std torch would produce such as seeing but not lighting up homes. It was also excellent with chain link fencing without the glare a wide or flooder creates and blinds you with bounce back.
I use a TN42 BIG light for long range and thats a tight beam with low flood/spill.
lep is small and efficient but wonder how many use this lep to hunt

I use mine for illuminating the target once lined up, not sweeping here and there with a loaded rifle hunting, I’d not recommend that as good practice for anyone or anything; the handheld thermal used in conjunction has already shown me what I have, how far and pretty much where it is.

Ok. No I agree a gun mounted LEP used for sweeping is not a good combo. I freestyled my thrower to spot.
As it goes, I love red light if I am not using NV or thermal... esp in the summer. No eye strain and no bugs in the summer as you get with white light

I’ll take your word for it, in summer here there’s about an hour and a half when you’d struggle to read the runners and riders line up, then it’s daylight again! And yes, a suitable bit of red cellophane held in place with a band would do the trick - time to find the box of ‘Roses’, lol!
