Hares have had protection from lamping for a great number of years by the fact they where game (not vermin) . Then some stupid MPs messed up ! If you wanted to shoot Hare out of season or use lighting / Lamps at night you had to apply for a grant .
Really cannot get how Moderators never seem to chuck those who make no worthwhile content or debate . If you actually have an FAC? i hope your feo gathers a few things up at some folks next review

I can't find any references to what you describe, but happy to stand corrected if you can provide a link to relevant info.

@Bowland blades seems unable to get beyond 1880 when studying legislation. The provisions of Section 6 of the Ground Game Act of that year which prohibited shooting hares at night were dealt a crushing blow by the Wildlife and Countryside Act, 1981.

I see a lot more hares now than I've seen for years. Can't think of any reason why they wouldn't benefit from a closed season though.

Yes, my take on hares is they can't be sold from one date to the end of the other, (can't remember the dates as I don't shoot them)
Seen a pick up full being unloaded at the game dealers when they made £6/7 each (head shot)

I would like to know how BASC and other shooting organisations are going to counter this proposal?
There was a recent BBC Nature series and one of them was on Hares. Despite being on a estate with a prolific hare population they were unable to get any footage of leverets and the doe feeding them. They were using thermal drones to spot but no success.
