Deer access into solar farm

Just back from a long afternoon dog walk. Part of which was around a local solar farm. Masses for deer tracks in the mud. This is one of several access points into the solar farm under the security fence.

All the wires on our local ones have been well buried, but have little doors for rabbits and badgers. They have cameras on posts too... which do work. Security have been out to me before now.
This looks a bit flimsy by comparison to what we have.

We have the same on a solar panel field we have on this estate, muntjac roe and cwd all go in and out. Charlie and Brock do as well, don't know why they bothered with the fence,it only keeps the sheep in there

Yes they sure do. Roe munties badgers and foxs. All use the same trod.
There are multiple similar like access points where the mesh spans a dip and if it's 8 inches or more they use it with no problems at all.

It's to keep humans out. This site has full IR security cameras but quite often the IR illuminator aren't working. Easy to see with a PVS.

Fallow are masters at getting under fences through the smallest of gaps. They'll always go under in preference to over. As soon as something smaller - such as a badger - has scraped a bit of a route there's a chance of even quite large deer squeezing through.
And muntjac can nip through pretty much any little space.

Belive it or not I have seen mature Red hinds and spikers slide under fencing that low..

I saw deer in a solar power station (please can we stop calling these industrial developments farms? They are not farms, they don't grow anything) I drove past at the weekend.

Well strictly not true as the one going in on a perm I have has raised panels and sheep will grazed in there. Good idea as no need to cut grass and sheep benefit from grass and shelter.

A shameful end Mickey that happens all to often. Developments restricting access to high value feeding grounds for wildlife is the problem.
