Ear bud electronic ear defenders advice

Thanks for the feedback. I think that I will invest in the Peltor eep-100. But will wait until June when I start on the pigeons 👍
Shop around when you do, they're all sorts of prices!
If it's of any help, I got mine from Earshot Communications Ltd, who were a little cheaper than others, and also lightning fast responding to a question via email. Dispatched super quick too 👍🏻

Just checked their website and they are a lot cheaper than others but out of stock. Might give them a call as I'm not in a rush.

Phoned them this morning and they had just received a new batch in so ordered a pair for £214 including delivery which is far cheaper than anywhere else. Should receive them tomorrow.

How waterproof are they??

The website mentions IP54, but reads as though that is the rating for the case, which isn't really helpful.

I have had a pair for about four years and they have survived many drenchings and downpours that were but enough for me to want take shelter.

Thanks for that

I have very narrow ear tubes, are the small tips pretty small?

From memory the supplied tips weren't that small, I certainly didn't find them that comfortable.

However, the Cens Mino Foam Tips fit them, they fit my ears better and are very comfortable. They come in a range of sizes, so I would be very surprised if you can't get a good fit with them.

I think that these are the smallest:
* Mino CENS Foam Tips - Green (Pair) - Puretone Shop

There are other non-branded (and knock-off) tips that you can get as well, but as they last for ages, I have just stuck with the Cens Mino tips.

If you are getting a set, I would also suggest getting the TEP-CORD, to minimise the chances of loosing one or dropping it in a puddle.

Ah, that’s a bugger ! I got a Boxing Day 20% discount email offer from isotunes which ran out yesterday unfortunately 🫤 and ordered a pair of their current in ear jobbies, Free 2.0’s rated at 31SNR …..and Bluetooth! 😳
I’ve a

I’ve also got a pair of their excellent Slim Basic over ear muffs with the gel cushions…. Best over ear muffs that I’ve come across in around 30 years trying all the big names along the way. They were really helpful in getting the gels into stock at the time….

You never know…. A call to them saying you missed the 20% offer might result in them taking pity on you! I get email offers a few times a year from them.

Best wishes

I haven't seen those before 👍🏼

Reading their website, these look good for a little more money:

My experience with the Peltor inear electronic plugs was that the supplied tips fit no one on earth. I would suggest getting a few different types and sizes of tips and giving them a try as there is probably no other way to find what will work for you and if you limit yourself to what comes in the box then you may not have a very positive experience.

The key to comfort is getting ear tips that fit you well and are comfortable for you and there is quite a range available, as has already been stated the CENS Mino ear tips will fit and Peltor also do foam ear tips that I have found very comfortable, their part number is CCC-GRM-25 and Peltor call them "communication eartips." They are relatively expensive but I find that they can be reused and so a new pair is only required periodically:

I just bought mrs gixer the Cens Mini’s for Christmas and gave them a try and was very impressed, but when I went online and read more reviews etc I stumbled upon the Peltor EEP-100’s so have ordered a set of those and they are due to arrive tomorrow.

I currently use emtek moulded non-electric or Peltor sportac’s more of the time so will be interesting to see how I get on.

I’ve taken the advice on here and ordered a Cens tip kit and the lanyard/cord so hopefully will be all sorted. Great info everyone - thanks! 👍🏻

Regards,
Gixer

My Isotunes are due to be delivered tomorrow so I’ll find out if the tips are the same as the CENS Minos… they certainly look similar. I’d agree that the supplied Peltor ones weren’t a lot of cop and even the Triple C tips referred to by Caorach above were only usable a few times before they lost their shape and mouldability. 🙁

In contrast to the Minos…. I’m still actually using the first set with my EEP’s! They wash ok and at one point the foam separated from the plastic core on one but a dab of superglue fixed that ….. that was 2 or 3 years ago now. 🤣
Cheers

I've used Earmor brand over the ear and find them very good.

I've just seen they do some in-ear models so I may have to give them a shot.

Earshot Comms are good to deal with........I bought my LEP-200 EU's there a few years ago.
Better than over-ear, don't interfere with cheek-weld, and can be worn under a beanie...
Only downside is the cost of replacement silicone rubber earpads, but they can be washed easily.

I have a set of Vario moulded electronic ear buds which I am verry happy with. Only thing I will say is that most Electronic ear buds use hearing aid batteries which only last three weeks weather you are using them or not. If your using them regularly and can remember to change the batteries regularly then go for it, but If your not going to be using the regularly just get the filter options much cheaper and no need to worry about battery's.

Hearing aid battery's only last three weeks and the programming only last so long with out power to run the memory. For example if you don't use them for tree months and you come to use them they don't work so you change the battery. Probably still won't work and will have to be sent back to the factory to be re-programmed free of charge but it is an inconvenience and you probably won't have them to use when you want them.
