Best gas burner to get for boiling out heads outdoors

Get a large burco boiler
See my post above - #13. At this time of year, trying to get it to hold a rolling boil is very difficult. Adding 3" of insulation to the outside has helped but trying to do this outside now in current temps is IMHO a non-starter.

I use a tiny butane camping stove. The key is getting the water and pot really boiling on a proper indoor cooker first, then any old small stove has no problem maintaining the boil.

Not sure about this we use Burco's all the time for boiling water for tea and cooking on camp and no issues getting it to keep a good rolling boil no matter the weather - have you tried propane rather than butane

but failing that please for my sanity do not mess about with roofing torches or crappy small camping stoves just get a paella burner

Okay logically what would be the most similar product over here? I have too think some sort of slow cooker right one with a temp control? looks fantastic but for $850 Its a bit out of most of us brits price range I feel like!

Hi Sol

See my post #14 above - this was in use in Dorset.

There's a lot of surplus catering equipment that comes up on auction sites (eg RamCo) and you might be able to get a surplus boiling pot for a reasonable price.

This was in a previous auction in December:

Try using an induction hob and steel pan on a dry day, gets up to temperature and far faster than gas.

Bu**er I bought six of them at Franconia Wurzburg for 25€ each and slowly sold them on at around 60€.

I just use a camping stove and large pot. Like others have said heat up on the kitchen stove first - I then sometimes cover with aluminium foil around the antlers to keep the heat in, a low simmer is really all you need.
