I haven't seen the PSNI online , I did see Hampshire's last year, it wasn't user friendly and in essence was just a rehash of the paper one anyway. Autofil and a save in progress like HMRC do with self-assessment would be useful, I ended up printing out the paper form instead.

We see this in many industries, I work in Health now and we have nurses and doctors who qualified 30+ years ago and they don’t want to use a computer… they are more than capable of learning however.
Someone who is entrusted with firearms, should have the brain function, to be able to use a computer to fill in the application.
It’s 2025.
A fully electronic Licencing system that doesn’t require you to carry around sheets of paper for 5 years is long overdue.

Absolutely agree, firearms licensing could learn a lot of principles from retail banking, ironically the last time I wrote out a cheque was in respect of my recent FAC renewal!
I think they already have -
Rubbish service, supercilious attitude and think they can tell you what to do.

I’ve helped a few I don’t fill in the details I just guide them through the process , so far had three bottles of single malt and a days stalking as a thank you , to be honest I don’t know why the local gun shop owners don’t offer a service to help complete the application could do it the last day of every month after all it’s the customers paying there wages lose the customers income goes down
The gun shop owners are struggling too, I did a 1 for 1 on a shotgun recently and it took ages because the guy was struggling to navigate the online portal. Made worse by the fact that the shop was out in the sticks and I had no mobile signal to confirm it from my own profile

Comparatively, yes. The current system apparently shares your details with pushing 2 million unvetted people, most probably including the odd terrorst. Obviously, this is an important improvement to public safety.Yep and that would be really secure wouldn’t it?
I rather doubt anything like that number of people use the local public library.

Hmmm.
Different perspective perhaps - having lived and had firearms in NI for half a century the last thing I wanted was someone or indeed anyone outside my circle of trusted friends knowing that I had firearms. In this day and age IMHO my maxim probably still holds good - everywhere!
I completely agree. The best security is limiting who knows. Perversely, our system tells millions of people that you have guns and where they are kept, plasters your name and address on the top of your certificates even though there is no technical reason or benefit to doing so.
