Walther RS3 Rifle

The deer stay the same, but apparently we need more and more advanced gear to take them down, and home. :-|
Now I am not knocking the rifle, it is probably very nice, but this "arms race" with hunting equipment really is something to behold. 😄

Been looking at these
Apparently they start around 4K in Europe for the plastic ones
It’s different probably why I’m interested but don’t see me ever getting one if they ever get into the uk

What an incredibly ugly rifle 🤮
I wonder how much they had to pay Frans?
Not his normal taste in firearms …..
You can almost see him wince and then think of the money to stiffen his jaw!
He also keeps lifting his head away from the stock and the scope as he operates the action, which suggests something about the ergonomics isn't right.
Walther's telling choice of ambassador aside, this is evidently a dedicated rifle for driven hunts. The combination of a bullpup configuration and carbon-fibre barrel offset the forward weight of suppressor to make a suppressed RS3 handle like a regular unsuppressed rifle.
The straight-pull action and medium-capacity magazine complete a package designed for high-intensity, dynamic shooting.
So, potentially a decent design for suppressed driven shooting -assuming that's becoming a thing - but for anything else, a solution looking for a problem.
BTW, is 6 rounds a legal limit somewhere, or a sign that Walther couldn't get a double stack to feed flawlessly?

My Daystate air rifle has an electronic trigger and it was astounding. Really crisp and what felt like zero lock time
It was a marvel to shoot

This is the future. It’s here to stay. I’m too entrenched in the Blaser R8 camp to change horses now but it’s very tempting. I think the mischievous quips about Franz Albrecht are misplaced. If he endorses it it’s the real deal. He’s not going to be swayed for a bit of wedge.

I quite like the look of it from the pictures and videos. I was talking with friend who had a good look at it at Jagd & Hund show. His view - better in the pictures. Feels a bit plasticky and cheap even though price tag is several thousand. Even the wooden stocked ones felt the same. Plasticky / polymery as in a glock or polymer semi auto Shotgun or a modern military weapon, rather than a nice hunting rifle built of steel and walnut. The grip cocking system is a bit odd, but one of those systems you would quickly get used to. Probably in the same way a blaser feels odd at first.
