Hello all,

I’m Mark and New into deer stalking, did my DSC1 with the BDS a couple years ago, and really enjoying my shooting I’ve been farming since I was a little lad, I’ve got land in both Essex and Norfolk.

I’m looking to Expand my with a syndicate, just ordered a replacement .308 to my frenchie what was a good rifle but very much a Training Bra, I’ve not got a Sako S20 and a B14 carbon crest in 6.5.

I look forward to all you advice tips and tricks and hope I can give something back too

Welcome to TSD Mark! I’m relatively new to this forum too, but so far it’s been a great place to discuss various topics with like minded individuals.

Would be interested to hear how you are getting on with your Begara Crest Carbon in 6.5 Creedmoor! A friend of mine has recently purchased the Begara B14 Wilderness Thumbhole and I must say I was very impressed by the rifle, super accurate! Did you go for the carbon or fluted barrel? What ammunition are you shooting?

Hello Will,

That is such a nice rifle, I was so close to getting that one! I have the fluted barrel on mine. What has he got

I’m using SAKO pro ammo it’s the nuts!

If you’re new to deer stalking I’d like to know what was your biggest learning curve so far?

Also if you fancy learning with a fellow newbie you are welcome to join me on my land it’s north of Diss is Norfolk!

Hi Mike, thanks how’s the year been treating you? Had many outings?

What is one tip would you have for someone like me with little experience?
One tip .....if you want to shoot lots of deer dont live in Mid Wales

Weather has put pay to most of my outings so far ...managed 3 fallow and 6 foxes....slow going.

In all seriousness my tip for someone with little experience is dont be disheartened. Keep knocking on doors and trying to get a foot in the door be it pest control (foxes, rabbits, crows etc) or deer shooting. Also, there are lots of opinions on here and lots of us who think we know best ...so take what people say with a pinch of salt 👍

That’s quite funny. I’m luck I live in Suffolk work in Norfolk and my mum and dad live in Essex.

I have noticed that I’m on a Facebook page what I’m scared to post it’s brutal.

I’m doing slightly better with the deer but I’m yet to have a fox :(

No way

I used to farm in Suffolk where about is your land if you don’t mind me asking? What do you farm?
Renting a farm not very far from Woodbridge.
Sheep.
Early childhood in Norfolk, grew up in Essex, then worked (and lived) for a bit as a shepherd in Suffolk before moving to Wales and eventually buying my own farm here.

...ooooh ... top tip ...dont buy an old fart rifle...so steer clear of .270s
.....ooooh...top tip.... don't take too much notice of @Mike1979 😆😆

Maybe the top tip should be "its possible to disagree politely" 👍 or "a sense of humour doesnt cost anything"

I have .223 .308 and 6.5 so I’m safe. Don’t suppose you know a gentleman called George Watson? He is a land owner in Woodbridge?

Well if you need a had removing any fox from your sheep land keep to help 😆
